The movie “Maantrika” is based on the story of a ghost hunter who embarks on a journey to explore the truth about the existence of negative forces. Recently, a pre-release press meet was held for the movie. Vyaanavarna Jammula, who comes from an IT background, has written the story, screenplay, and dialogues, and directed the film. He also plays the role of the ghost hunter. Vyaanavarna Jammula, who has worked in eight departments, including production and direction, spoke about the movie, saying it revolves around beliefs and superstitions.

The movie conveys the message of moving away from illusions and embracing reality, with a time-travel narrative that unfolds from morning till evening. He portrays a character named Vyasavaan Krishna. The story takes place at Marnudi, a place on the Karnataka-Maharashtra border. ‘Marnudi’ means ‘word’ in Sanskrit. The film conveys that humans live in constant fear for 24 hours a day. First, we must remove this fear from our minds and come to reality.

The movie aims to deliver the message of breaking free from superstitions. Alongside the horror elements, the film attempts to give a social message, encouraging viewers to understand the difference between belief and superstition, and also touches upon the subject of witchcraft, he said.

Distributor Vijay Kumar mentioned that the movie would release in 40 to 50 theaters. The story revolves around whether ghosts exist or if they are merely illusions. Radhika Mali Patil and Maithili Nayak play the female leads in the movie.

Vyaanavarna’s wife, Ayan, who supported the film’s direction and served as the executive producer, said, “I work at an MNC and have already watched the movie. This film explores the reality of whether witchcraft truly exists in the world. That’s why I became a part of the movie’s production.”

The movie encourages viewers not to fall into the trap of superstitions, as the truth might be something else. After understanding that, one should make a decision. The film was shot in various locations including Bengaluru and Mangalore, and a significant portion was filmed in an empty mall in Bengaluru. The film crew experienced many strange incidents while shooting in the mall, they mentioned.

Produced under the banner of Krishna Sankula Branding Pictures, the movie has received a U/A certificate from the censor board. The director himself has edited the film, with music composed by Stalin, cinematography by Anil Antony and Ramesh Marripalli, and action choreography by Lion G. Gangaraju.
