The trailer of the Kannada film ‘September 21,’ starring Priyanka Upendra and directed by 22-year-old filmmaker Karen Krishthi Suvarna, has been released ahead of the film’s theatrical release on May 22.
Upendra attended the film’s press meet organised before the release and extended his support and wishes to the team. Journalist and director Indrajit Lankesh was also present at the event.
According to director Karen Krishthi Suvarna, ‘September 21’ was shot simultaneously in Kannada and Hindi. She said the film’s trailer has now been unveiled and the movie is scheduled for release on May 22. Before its release, the film will also be screened at the Cannes Film Festival on May 15.
Karen Krishthi Suvarna said the story revolves around Alzheimer’s disease and carries the tagline, “The decisions taken by caregivers are more important than the patient.” She added that Priyanka Upendra plays the role of a caregiver and appears in a character she has not portrayed before.
Speaking at the event, Priyanka Upendra said she liked the way the director narrated the story and that she has played a role unlike any she has done earlier. She also stated that she has personally seen family members suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. According to her, the film revolves around both an Alzheimer’s patient and the person caring for the patient. She thanked her husband Upendra and Indrajit Lankesh for supporting the film.
Actor Praveen Singh Sisodiya said he has portrayed the role of a patient suffering from Alzheimer’s disease in the film. Story writer Rajashekhar and music director Vinay Chandra also shared information about the film and its songs during the press meet. Producers Vijay Chowdhary, Srinivas Bettadapura, Ramesh Bhandari, Abhishek Gowtham, and Ajith were among those present at the event.
