The film Rudrabhishekam, which tells the history of a family that has continued the tradition of performing Veeragase, one of our art and cultural traditions, as well as the history of Lord Veerabhadra, is releasing across the state in more than 100 theatres on Friday, September 25. Written and directed by Vasanth Kumar, the film features actor Vijay Raghavendra and Priyanka Thimmesh in the lead roles, with both actors playing dual roles.
Chinnari Muthu Vijay Raghavendra is playing the roles of a father and son for the first time, while Priyanka Thimmesh plays dual roles as a village devotee of Lord Shiva and a city girl. Bala Rajwadi appears in the role of a Gowda.
Rudrabhishekam is the first film from Fan India Creations. Nine producers, including Manjunath K.N., N. Jayaramappa, K. Venkatesh, B. Chidananda Murthy, Suresh Babu, B.K. Ashwath Narayan, Shivakumar, K.S. Ravikumar and Kusuma Vasanth Kumar, have invested in the film.
“The objective of our film is to take the folk art rooted in divinity to every household across the state. I have also acted as a philosopher in the film. My character will travel along with both the father and son characters,” said director Vasanth Kumar.
The dialogue portions and songs of the film were shot around Devanahalli and in coastal locations including Gokarna, Honnavar, Kumta and Abbakka Fort, as well as at locations along the backwaters of the Aghanashini River where no one had shot before.
The central theme of the story is Lord Veerabhadra. Rudrabhishekam tells how he came into being and the reason behind his arrival. V. Manohar, Manu, Sanath, Bullet Vinu, Mamatha Thuruvekere, Navanitha Shetty, Manjula and others are playing important roles. The film has music composed by V. Manohar and cinematography by Mutturaj.
