The moment we hear the name ‘Chandrahasa’, we remember the film starring Dr. Rajkumar. But now, another film with the same name has been made and is ready for release. ‘Chandrahasa’ is the film in which Comedy Khiladigalu fame Harish Hiriyur is making his debut as a hero. The film ‘Chandrahasa’, which marks the directorial debut of Anand Kalakabandi, has been produced by Basanagowda Patil under the Amarasree Combines banner. Having already won the hearts of music lovers through its songs, ‘Chandrahasa’ has now arrived with its trailer. The film is entering theatres on October 23.
Almost everyone involved in the film is a newcomer. However, acting and cinema are not new to them, as all of them are trained in theatre. Lead actor Harish Hiriyur is known for his theatre work as well as for becoming a household name through the reality show Comedy Khiladigalu. He is now appearing before cinema audiences as a hero for the first time. Comedy Khiladigalu fame Huli Karthik, Nawaz and many others were present at the trailer release event to wish their friend on his film.
The one-line story of ‘Chandrahasa’ is that life is filled with laughter when a friend named Chandra is by your side. Comedy, friendship, emotions and the struggles of middle-class life are all part of this film. Speaking after releasing the trailer, director Anand said, “The story of Chandrahasa did not just come out of nowhere. Many of the characters in the film are characters I have seen in real life. This is a film where every character will stay with you. I am sure everyone will like it.”
Lead actress Chhayashree also spoke about her role, saying, “I play a character named Sridevi. There is a negative shade along with the positive side. I come from a theatre background, and Mandya Ramesh sir is my guru.”
Speaking about the film, lead actor Harish said, “Through this film, they have given me the title of ‘Rangarathna’. Since I come from theatre, this made me very happy. The director came and told me that he would make me the hero. I asked why, as I was doing comedy. Later, we made the film. Happiness can be shared with everyone. But not everyone shares their sorrow. This film will connect with everyone.”
Produced by Basavanthagowda Patil, the film has Basanna Kamathar as co-producer. Actress Chhayashree Umesh is paired opposite lead actor Harish. Ningraju Mandya, Santosh Keri, Suryakala, Jyothi Mangalore and Kalakappa Talawar have played important roles.
Poornachandra has composed the music for the film. Chetan Sharma is the cinematographer, while V. Girish M.C. Halli has handled the editing.
