According to historical accounts, Goddess Sri Mookambika of Kollur followed Adi Shankaracharya and settled in Kollur. The album song ‘Gejje’ has been created based on this belief. This devotional song was released on the Hombale Music channel on the first day of Navaratri. The song launch event was held on a grand scale, with actress Sudharani unveiling it.

Speaking after launching the song, actress Sudharani said, “The song has come out very well. I got goose bumps while watching it. The quality is also excellent. I wish director Mayura Raghavendra all the best and hope he makes many more good films in the future.”

Another guest, Sihi Kahi Chandru, also praised the song and the team wholeheartedly.

The song ‘Gejje’ has been directed by Mayura Raghavendra, who has put in ten months of hard work on the project. This devotional song has been made in both Kannada and Malayalam.

Sharing details about the project, Mayura Raghavendra said, “I have been a devotee of Kollur Mookambika Devi for the past 25 years. I visit the Mookambika temple three to four times every year. Whenever I visited the temple, I felt that I should do something about Adi Shankaracharya and Mother Mookambika.

“Ten months ago, when I went to seek the Goddess’s blessings, I felt inspired by the Goddess and the spiritual guidance of the gurus to create this song. After completing the darshan and coming out of the temple, I spoke to Sunil Kumar Ramachandra about the idea. He immediately said that he would produce it.

“When it came to the music, ‘Shakahari’ is a film I particularly liked, so I approached music director Mayura Ambekallu. He extended his support. Mayura Naiga wrote the lyrics for the song. Abhimanyu Sadanandan, cinematographer of the film Karavali, joined the team to handle the cinematography. Archana has done wonderful costume design.

“Shreyas Vasishta, Sameera Simha and Shobhan have also contributed greatly to making this song possible. Once everything was in place, we thought of having Ankita Amar play the role of the Goddess. We approached her, and she agreed. We had searched extensively for someone to play Adi Shankaracharya and finally selected Bharat Gupta from Chandigarh.

“I am very happy that the song has been released through Hombale Music on the first day of Navaratri itself,” Mayur Raghavendra said.

Ankita Amar, who portrays Goddess Mookambika, said, “I was able to do this because of the Mother’s blessings. I have a deep affection for Mother Sharadamba. While performing the role, I remembered Mother Sharadamba and acted with her in my thoughts. I was very happy after watching the video. The lyrics and music are all wonderful.

“I hope people listen to this song during every puja. May this song resonate in your homes throughout all ten days of Navaratri,” she said.

Mayura Ambekallu, who composed the music for ‘Gejje’, said, “We did not make this project; the Mother herself made it happen through us. We recorded it live.”

Editor Rahul Vasishta and cinematographer Abhimanyu Sadanandan were also present on the dais.
