The wife of ‘Buddivantha’ Upendra, Priyanka Upendra, plays ‘Theekshna’ in her 50th film, Detective Theekshna. Apparently, the title took shape at the Upendra household, recalls writer and director Trivikram Raghu. The film is set to release on August 7 across Karnataka. The film will be released in other languages at a later date.
The showreel of Detective Theekshna (DT) was released by Ramesh Reddy, Navaneeth, and Nirakallu Shivakumar at SRV Theatre on Monday evening in the presence of a large gathering.
According to the director, intelligence plays a major role in the film as the protagonist sets out to find the culprits. He has written a competent screenplay and undertaken exhaustive editing for 180 days following 31 days of shooting. The film revolves around the conflict between good and evil. He says it is intelligence that ultimately paves the way for the construction of any ‘Samrajya’.
Director Trivikram Raghu, the son of a farmer, has put in tremendous effort for this film. During the censor process, he won appreciation for a few situations in the film, which, he says, reflects his intelligence and hard work.
The biggest task was for editor Sridhar. Following 31 days of shooting, he worked for 180 days on the edit, and finally, the director approved the 17th version, he revealed.
As the first producer, Muni Prasanna, was indisposed, Purushottam attended the event and expressed his happiness at being able to give the final touches to the film.
Veteran actor K.S. Sridhar, who plays a police officer in the film, recalled the ‘Pattedaari’ era in India and took a trip down memory lane. He remembered the ‘Rajani’ of the past and how effectively it captured the audience’s attention. He appreciated the director’s calibre and expressed his happiness at working with the team.
Robo Ganesh, who plays the trouble-shooter in the film, had to wear gold-coated teeth for a few days as part of his role and had to give up his regular food routine during the shoot. He felt that this would be a golden film for Priyanka Madam, he said in his address.
Shashidhar, who is tall and well-built and sports a beard and long hair, plays the main villain Vaali in the film. He expects this role to give his career a major break. He said that he has been waiting for five years to get noticed in the industry.
Wencita Dais plays the young ‘Theekshna’ in the film. When she was told that she would be portraying the younger version of Priyanka Upendra’s character, she was thrilled. An actress who has acted in eight Konkani and Tulu films, she expressed happiness over the way the director has beautifully sketched her role.
Aruna Balaraj, who has played the mother of many heroes and heroines, said that she has an emotional role in this film as well, but it came with its own set of challenges. She felt that there was no shortage of effort or quality throughout the film and thanked the entire team.
Priyanka Upendra, who plays the lead role, expressed her happiness about getting such a role. She also felt the need to address and uplift the difficult situation faced by children in society.
