Producer and director S. Udayashankar gives a new look to this much-loved film. ‘Jagamechida Maga’, the super hit film starring Kannada Kanteerava Dr. Rajkumar, who won the hearts of Kannadigas through his outstanding performances.

This black-and-white film is now being enhanced and is being released with modern technology. The film will be released in color on the occasion of Kannada Rajyotsava. S. Udayashankar, who has been associated with the film industry as a producer and distributor for four decades, has made an effort to bring the much-loved ‘Jagamechida Maga’ in color.

“I am a fan of Dr. Rajkumar. I have produced several films as a producer. I have also distributed a few films. Now, I have undertaken the effort to transform ‘Jagamechida Maga’, which was released in 1972, produced by Bhavanarayana, directed by Hunsur Krishnamurthy and starring Dr. Rajkumar, Bharathi, K.S. Ashwath, M.V. Rajamma, Narasimharaju and others, from a black-and-white film into a Cinema Scope film, incorporate 5.1 sound effects and prepare it according to modern technology, with plans to release it on this Kannada Rajyotsava.

So far, ‘Satya Harishchandra’ and ‘Kasturi Nivasa’ have been released in color. Now ‘Jagamechida Maga’ is being released. Going forward, there is also a plan to release ‘Mantralaya Mahatme’ in color.

Releasing ‘Jagamechida Maga’ with modern technology has been my dream for many years. However, transforming a black-and-white film made fifty years ago into the modern format is not that easy. All the work related to this film has been carried out at Prasad Studio in Chennai for the past one-and-a-half years. Now the film is ready to come to the screen in a new form.

Producer S. Udayashankar has stated that the film will be released grandly on the occasion of Kannada Rajyotsava.
