The Kannada and Tulu bilingual film ‘Picchar’, produced by Shilpa Ganesh under the Golden Movies banner, is set for a statewide theatrical release on July 24. Directed by Sandeep Bedra, the film stars Nityaprakash Bantwal and Amrutha Sudu in the lead roles. The team shared details about the film during a press conference.
Producer Shilpa Ganesh said Golden Movies has been producing Kannada films and that friends had often suggested making a Tulu film as they are from Mangaluru. She said they decided to proceed after finding a suitable story. Executive producer Mohan Bhatkal introduced director Sandeep Bedra, whose story was approved by both Shilpa Ganesh and Ganesh.
She said the project was initially planned as a low-budget film but expanded into a bigger-budget production by the time it was completed. According to her, one of the film’s songs was shot in Kashmir, marking the first time a Tulu film has been filmed there. She also said she made her singing debut with the song “Gokulada Radhe,” while Jaskaran Singh sang the male version. She added that the film has been made as a family entertainer in both Kannada and Tulu and will be released on July 24.
Speaking at the event, Golden Star Ganesh said he had previously attended press conferences only for films in which he had acted or made a guest appearance, but attended this event as a representative of a film produced by their banner. He said the story written by Sandeep Bedra revolves around a joint family and includes elements such as emotion, sentiment and comedy.
Ganesh also said he gives importance to family-oriented films as he has a large family audience. He said the film features Mangaluru-based artistes including Devadas Kapikad, Aravind Bolar, Bhojaraj Vamanjoor and Naveen Padil. He added that Nityaprakash Bantwal and Amrutha Sudu play the lead roles.
The film has music composed by Samuel Abhi, while cinematography has been handled by Santosh Rai Pathaje and Chandrashekhar K.S. The songs have been sung by Jaskaran Singh, Shilpa, Harikrishna and Jessi Gift, with lyrics written by Simple Suni, Anoop Bhandari, Arasu Anthare and Chetan Kumar.
