Not only feature films, but short films too are now attracting everyone’s attention. It is not easy to bring an idea to visual form within just a few minutes. However, today’s younger generation is making it possible. Recently, a screening and press meet were organized for the short films “I See You,” produced by Ravindra Joshi, directed by Minchu Joshi, and starring Minchu Joshi, Vishnu Raman, Rishi Raman, and Sandeep Shivashankar; and “Mandala,” produced by Raman Productions, written and directed by Rishi Raman, and starring Rishi Raman, Anamika Datta, Prajwal Kumar, and Manasa Raj Gowda. Both short films have duration of twenty minutes.
“I have worked as an assistant director for the films ‘Sakutumba Sametha’ and ‘Ibbani Tabbida Ileyali,’ produced by Paramvah Studios. As the first step in my independent direction journey, I directed this short film. Set against the chaotic backdrop of Mumbai city life, ‘I See You’ is a quiet coming-of-age relationship drama about connection and truly being seen. The film follows a young woman facing a difficult phase in her relationship, where both partners grow distant despite being together. Over the course of a single day, an acting class exercise compels her to pause, reflect, and confront her own emotional patterns — leading her to take a crucial step toward clarity and reconnection,” said Minchu Joshi, thanking the team members who supported the project. The short film has been made in Kannada, English, and Hindi.
Actors Vishnu Raman and Rishi Raman, and music director Zubin Paul, who worked on “I See You,” were present at the press meet.
Speaking about the short film “Mandala,” director and actor Rishi Raman said, “‘Mandala’ is a psychological thriller about an Indian couple living abroad, whose casual LSD experiment spirals into a night of paranoia, generational trauma, and emotional violence. An argument in the relationship transforms into a surreal confrontation with Dev’s childhood ghosts — embodied by his parents — turning the film into an intense psychological siege. The story unfolds over a single night. It was shot in a single house. The film was made through crowd funding. There are plans to direct a feature film in the future.”
