A film titled Rudrabhishekam, which unfolds the Veeragase art form—one of Karnataka’s cultural traditions—and the history of Veerabhadra, is set for release. The movie has already completed its shooting and post-production work and is currently in the censor stage. Director Vasanth Kumar has announced that the film will be released in the month of May. He also mentioned that the audio of the film will be released soon.
The film narrates the origin and history of Veeragase through the backdrop of a Veeragase family.
Vijay Raghavendra, known as “Chinnari Mutha,” appears not only as a Veeragase artist but also plays a dual role as father and son for the first time. Big Boss fame Priyanka Thimmesh plays the female lead in the film.
Rudrabhishekam is the first film of Fan India banner, and along with director Vasanth Kumar, a total of nine producers including Manjunath K.N, N. Jayaram, K. Venkatesh, Chidananda Murthy, Suresh Babu, Ashwath Narayan, Shivakumar, and Ravikumar have invested in the project.
“Our aim is to take this divine folk art to every household in the state. Actor Vijay Raghavendra has extended great support to us. I have also acted in the film as a philosopher, and my character, which appears throughout the film alongside the father and son roles, has two different getups,” said Vasanth Kumar.
The film has been shot for over 50 days in and around Devanahalli as well as coastal locations like Gokarna, Honnavar, Kumta, Abbakka Fort, and the Aghanashini backwaters—places where no one has filmed before.
The movie presents the significance and history of the centuries-old Veeragase art form rooted in folk traditions. The core of the story revolves around Veerabhadra—how he came into existence and the reason behind his arrival.
Actors Bala Rajwadi, V. Manohar, Manu, Sanath, Bullet Vinu, Mamatha Turuvekere, Navanitha Shetty, Manjula, and others play important roles in the film.
The film features music composed by V. Manohar and cinematography by Muthuraj.
