The film Urabba, directed by Lucky Shankar of 90s fame, is based on events surrounding the famous Ujjini Chowdeshwari Jatre held in Kunigal taluk and related incidents.

The film, produced by Naresh Gowda under Ayush Enterprises, will release statewide on July 19. Naresh Gowda, known for Once More Kaurava, has also acted as the lead actor in the film.

The film features a special contribution from Anitha Sara Mahesh, wife of Sara Mahesh, who has lent her voice for a goddess song in the film.

The cast includes Doddanna, Tanisha Kuppanda, Payal Chankappa, Siddu Moolimani, Mimicry Gopi, Biradar, Mithra, Aravind Rao, and others in important roles.

According to the makers, real visuals of the Ujjini Chowdeshwari Jatre have been captured using eight cameras by five directors — M.D. Sridhar, H. Vasu, A.V. Krishnakumar, Bahubali, and Eshwar.

The director stated that the shooting was done live during the entire festival with suggestions from Vasu and Sridhar, who also contributed to the dialogue and screenplay. He claimed that this type of attempt is the first of its kind in Indian cinema.

He also mentioned that the festival has several unique rituals, including an event where six Dalit individuals are given the sacred thread (janivara), symbolically made Brahmins, and made to cross a fire pit.

The film also features a large ensemble cast including Aravind Rao, Biradar, Siddu Moolimani, Mithra, Doddanna, Tanisha Kuppanda, Payal Chankappa, Mimicry Gopi, and Dr. Nanjappa.

Music for the film is composed by Akshay S. Rishabh, while cinematography is handled by Krishnakumar.
