Actress, producer, and director Sushma Veer has now stepped forward to give a new dimension to the tradition of theatre songs (Ranga Geethegalu). Recently, through her organization Veera Kathakara, she organized an event titled “Veera Ranga Sambhrama K5.” At this event, Dr. Chandrashekhar Kambara’s song “Mayada Manada Bhara” was released. Veteran actor Dr. Rajkumar’s daughter Lakshmi Govindaraju and son-in-law S.A. Govindaraju unveiled the song. Director P. Sheshadri, actor Suchendra Prasad, Dr. C. Somashekhar, actor Sundarraj, Kondajji Mohan, Prakash Raghavachar, and Dr. Chandrashekhar Kambara’s daughter Jayashree, along with many dignitaries and several members of Gubbi Veeranna’s family, were present at the event.

This is a theatre song that has used AI technology for the first time in South India. Following the release of the song, the guests and Sushma Veer addressed the gathering.

Lakshmi Govindaraju, daughter of Dr. Rajkumar, said, Sushma is a child whom we raised with affection. Our family and her family share a bond spanning four generations. Sushma has now taken a new step. I wish her all the success she said.

Director P. Sheshadri said, “How did Sushma get this acting talent? From her grandfather? From her mother? No. It has come through her hard work. Perhaps only the voice has come from her family. Sushma is a woman of many talents. Now she has taken yet another new step through Veera Ranga Sambhrama. Wish her good success” he said.

Actor Suchendra Prasad said, “I always call Sushma ‘Ammu.’ Sushma has done what all of us should have done and has become a role model for us. She has preserved these songs, which were getting lost in the passage of time, and kept them alive in our memories.”

Dr. C. Somashekhar said, “Listening to Sushma’s voice feels like listening to Usha Uthup. May many more songs emerge from her voice.”

Actor Sundarraj said, “Sushma is like my daughter. I have seen her since childhood. Her growth has brought me great happiness.”

Sushma Veer, founder of Veera Kathakara and organizer of the “Veera Ranga Sambhrama K5” event, said, “Through our Veera Kathakara organization, we have organized an event called ‘Veera Sambhrama K5.’ This is the unveiling of a new wave of theatre songs. The primary objective of ‘Veera Sambhrama’ is to introduce theatre songs to the younger generation.

K5 stands for Karnataka, Kannada, Karanth, Karnad, and Kambara. The aim is to take the songs of Shivaram Karanth, Girish Karnad, and Chandrashekhar Kambara to the people, especially the youth. We also have plans to organize a grand event about these three legends in the future. Today, as the first song of ‘Veera Sambhrama,’ we have released Dr. Chandrashekhar Kambara’s ‘Mayada Manada Bhara.’ The song has been released through Jhankar Music. This song was used in the film ‘Naga Mandala,’ directed by T.S. Nagabharana. The original music composition was by C. Ashwath. I have now made an attempt to sing this song. I am happy that director Nagabharana has also appreciated my singing. Many more theatre songs will be released through our organization in the future. I thank all the dignitaries and family members who attended this event.”

It was special that Sushma Veer inaugurated the event by singing a theatre song in her own voice. Young singers Kavya and Kavana also joined Sushma in the performance.

Gubbi Veeranna’s family is renowned for its resonant voice. That same resonant voice belongs to Sushma. All the dignitaries who attended the event unanimously expressed that hers is a voice perfectly suited for theatre songs and wholeheartedly praised her singing.
