The makers of Ramayana officially launched the film’s global campaign at an event held in New Delhi on July 18, announcing that the film’s worldwide trailer will be released on July 24. The launch event, titled ‘Pratham Sankalp’, marked the beginning of the film’s journey to present the Indian epic Ramayana to global audiences. Ahead of the trailer launch, a special presentation was held in the national capital to introduce the project and its vision.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana. The film also features Arun Govil, Shobana, Ajinkya Dev, Kunal Kapoor, Rakul Preet Singh, Ravi Dubey and Sunny Deol, who plays Hanuman. The project is being produced by Prime Focus Studios founder Namit Malhotra in collaboration with DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations.
Speaking at the event, producer Namit Malhotra said the aim is to present one of India’s most recognised stories to audiences across the world. He said Ramayana is not merely a mythological tale but a part of India’s cultural tradition that has been passed down through generations. He added that advancements in technology and filmmaking have made it possible to present the epic on an international scale.
Director Nitesh Tiwari said the values of Ramayana are universal and that every scene has been created with authenticity and respect. He said the team has focused on preserving the emotional depth of the epic while using modern technology to present it to audiences. According to him, the combined efforts of Prime Focus Studios, DNEG and Monster Mind Creations have gone into developing the film.
The makers also said that the campaign extends beyond the film’s promotional events through the Ramayana Schools Programme, which has reached more than 500 schools across India. According to the organisers, lakhs of students have participated in activities based on the values of the epic, and selected student winners attended the ‘Pratham Sankalp’ event. They also announced that fans and content creators in 20 major cities across the country will get an exclusive preview of the trailer ahead of its official release.
The film’s music has been composed by Academy Award-winning composers Hans Zimmer and A.R. Rahman. The official trailer of Ramayana will be released globally on July 24. According to the makers, Prime Focus Studios and Monster Mind Creations are collaborating on the project with the objective of taking the story of Ramayana to audiences worldwide.
