A musical romantic comedy that explores innocent love in the age of AI – Written and directed by Sai Srinidhi, ‘Miss Match’ is gearing up for a theatrical release on January 8, 2027.
Produced by Tejas Venkatesh under the Satoir Tejus Publication Production banner, the film promises a refreshing romantic comedy rooted in the emotions and aspirations of small-town youngsters.
The makers describe ‘Miss Match’ as an honest attempt to present a natural and relatable love story. The teaser, released three weeks ago, has garnered around 45,000 views organically, while one of the songs has crossed 1.25 lakh views.
Producer Tejas Venkatesh, who has spent nearly a decade working in the IT and AI sectors, has taken a break from his professional career to pursue his passion for filmmaking. Having been associated with the film industry as an investor since 2019, he said the decision to produce ‘Miss Match’ was a leap of faith. He also spoke about his association with Kaushik and the encouragement he received to make a film. Tejas is also associated with the publication of the book ‘Bhavodvega Pratibimba’.
Director Sai Srinidhi said the project had been in development for nearly two years. He wanted to make a romantic comedy that explored whether love was genuine or had become a transactional arrangement, much like a business deal. At a time when AI is becoming part of everyday life, he felt there was a need to tell an innocent and authentic love story. The director says the film explores how relationships are shaped by circumstances and emotions, and how even the right people can meet at the wrong time. With relatable characters, youthful aspirations and an innocent approach to romance, Match hopes to strike an emotional chord with audiences when it arrives in theatres on January 8, 2027.
Shot over 45 days in Chikkamagaluru, the film captures the natural atmosphere of small-town life. Ganesh Mahabal is the cinematographer, while Judah Sandy has composed the music. The film features five songs, which have been written Trilok and Sukiya Shetty. The makers describe it as a musical romantic comedy.
Kaushik Gowda plays the male lead, while Ashwitha Hegde and Amrutha KP are the female leads.
Speaking about the film, lead actor Kaushik Gowda said, “I was born and brought up in Hassan. I had a passion for acting since childhood. I entered the film industry through short films, and after being associated with director Sai Srinidhi for nearly seven years, I got the opportunity to play the lead role in ‘Mismatch’. Working with experienced artistes and technicians has been a wonderful experience.”
Ashwitha said the film’s raw and realistic portrayal of small-town boys and girls, their aspirations and relationships appealed to her. She was happy that she eventually became part of a project she had initially missed. Her character has been presented with a natural, no-makeup look.
Amrutha KP was selected through an audition. Kaushik, who has been associated with behind-the-scenes filmmaking work for nearly a decade, also has experience in short films. He recalled his early journey, including his work on a BTS project involving rag pickers, before stepping into the lead role.
Actor Tejesh S.M. said that he plays a character that is always cracking jokes and making everyone laugh in a group of friends. He added that the character has been portrayed so naturally that audiences would be able to identify someone from their own circle of friends in it.
The film features Kaushik Gowda, Ashwita Hegde, Tejesh S.M. and Amrutha K.P. in the lead roles, along with senior artistes Lakshmi Siddaiah, Nagendra Shah and Aniruddha Acharya, known for ‘Ayyana Mane’, among several others.
