Golden Star Ganesh says the Kannada film industry needs more theatrical releases and believes actors should strive to have at least two films released every year.

It has been two years since the release of Ganesh’s last film, ‘Krishnam Pranaya Sakhi’. Although the actor has signed four films since then, none of them has reached theatres. Addressing the delay, Ganesh said the release plans are currently being worked out.

He said ‘Brunda Vihari’ is likely to be the first among the pending releases, while ‘Pinaka’ has also been completed. According to him, both films are expected to release this year.

Speaking about the delay, Ganesh said ‘Pinaka’ and ‘Ram’ are large-scale productions that require more time. However, he added that this should not prevent actors from taking up other projects. He said he has listened to several new scripts and plans to begin new films after the four projects currently in hand are released.

Ganesh said each of his upcoming films belongs to a different genre. He described ‘Pinaka’ as a fantasy film, ‘Brunda Vihari’ as a story centred on human relationships, ‘Yours Sincerely Ram’ as a journey-based film, and ‘Tamma Sukhagamana Bayasuva’ as a family drama.

The actor said he does not prefer long gaps between releases and would like to have at least two films released every year. However, he noted that large-scale productions often take longer to complete and release, and that such decisions ultimately rest with the producers. He added that, as an actor, he can only do his best and request timely releases.

On the delay in releasing ‘Brunda Vihari’, Ganesh said the makers are waiting for a suitable release date. He said he personally has no preference for a particular date and believes every release date is a good one. He added that he is not concerned about competing with other films and had hoped the film would release around his birthday, but technical reasons led to a postponement. He said the final decision rests with the producers, who are in a better position to decide the most suitable release window.

Ganesh reiterated that every leading actor should aim to release at least two films each year. He said he is disappointed that none of his films has been released in the last two years and had initially expected another release within eight months of ‘Krishnam Pranaya Sakhi’. He said production delays eventually resulted in release delays.

Referring to ‘Pinaka’, Ganesh said the film has been mounted on a large scale but clarified that not every project needs to be made with a similar budget. According to him, the budget should match the requirements of the story.

Ganesh also said actors naturally want to work on more films and take on a variety of roles and challenges. At the same time, he said it is important to consider projects from a producer’s perspective, which can sometimes result in delays.
