Actor, producer, and director Duniya Vijay Kumar is stepping into a new space with popular actor Vinay Rajkumar and his daughter Monisha in City Lights. He is leaving no stone unturned for this project, and his dedication and attention to detail are evident in the film’s second song, which was recently released.
The song ‘Kandamma Kandamma…’, penned by Nagarjuna Sharma, was released by the writer himself along with his daughter at a simple yet well-executed audio launch event.
The beautifully written song by Nagarjuna Sharma has been rendered equally well by Sanchit Hegde, while Charan Raj has composed the music brilliantly.
Duniya Vijay Kumar recalled words such as ‘Chinnamma’, ‘Kandamma’, and ‘Bangari’, and chose the word ‘Kandamma’ before handing it over to the talented lyricist Nagarjuna Sharma. That is how the song came into existence. Nagarjuna Sharma had earlier penned songs for Vijay Kumar’s films Salaga and Bheema, both of which went on to achieve tremendous success.
The shooting of City Lights has now been completed. The film carries a strong social message and warns society about the harmful effects of junk food. Duniya Vijay Kumar says the artificial colours added to junk food can have dangerous consequences for human life.
Vinay Rajkumar, who has worked under Duniya Vijay Kumar’s direction, says it has been a comfortable experience for him. In fact, Vinay Rajkumar is a favourite of actor-director Duniya Vijay Kumar. Speaking about the song ‘Kandamma…’, Vinay said that the emotional rendition has elevated the song.
Monisha Vijay, who is already being recognised for her resemblance to actress Ramya (Divya Spandana), is making her acting debut with City Lights. She says that ‘Kandamma’ is her favourite song in the film. Speaking about working with her father, who is also the director, she said that he was very professional on the sets and quite strict as well.
Music composer Charan Raj, who has delivered several hit songs, recalled the creative freedom he was given while working on the film’s music. He said that such freedom, combined with a positive working environment, helps create good music. There are six songs in City Lights, he revealed.
City Lights also features a few transgender artistes who are facing the camera for the first time. Umashree, Bhuvanavalli, and others are part of the cast.
Dialogue writer Manju Upparahalli and a few other supporting actors expressed their happiness at being part of City Lights.
