Title – X & Y, Producer – Sathya Pictures, Direction – D. Sathyaprakash, Cinematography – Lavith, Music – Kaushik Harsha, Cast – D. Sathyaprakash, Brinda Acharya, Atharva Prakash, Ayana, Harini, Sunder Veena, Veena Sunder, Doddanna, Dharmanna, Tenappan and others.

Delectable Sathyaprakash, scoring well from three earlier films, bounces back with a mass entertainer mixed with fantasy elements.

When the concept is imaginary, anything is possible. The diligence of Sathyaprakash also touches upon socially relevant topics. The Athma topic is not the core, but human elements and their treatment in a novel method are predominantly good, making this a solid family entertainer.

He is Kride (Sathyaprakash, making his debut as hero), running Ambo-Auto – a real vehicle adopted by many auto drivers. It has a bed and other facilities attached, besides three seats. He is a Good Samaritan, and his social service earns him accolades. Even Kride wishes to marry. After a futile search, he finds a bride coming out of a marriage hall — she becomes the right choice.

The fantasy element of Athma, added as one of the inmates of this Ambo-Auto, takes the film to a melodramatic edge. The Athma character is on earth for four days.

Life is a journey — for some, it is short; for others, unexpected. The unexpected addition of Krupa (Brinda Acharya), the bride on the run, brings comfort to Kride’s life. In the company of Kride, Khushi, Nagu, and Dhairya follow, according to the situations.

Now the piquant situation: the Athma character, eagerly in need of ‘Amma and Appa’ and innocent to the core, provides riveting moments — especially when it finds orphan children and neglected parents. “I want to be a flower,” the Athma character says.

What happens to Kride and Krupa? What happens to the patient character in the Ambo-Auto? What step does the family of Kride and Krupa take? You have to watch the film to know.

As a debutant, Sathyaprakash facing the camera is at ease. He knows what his personality can do. He does just that, without taking unnecessary risks.

Brinda Acharya as Krupa reminds us of the yesteryear Dr. Jayamala in looks and even in dialogue delivery. She is a very competent performer and delivers her role with aplomb.

The Athma character, played by Atharva Prakash, is an actor to watch. He remains innocent throughout and touches the heart. Sunder Veena, as the uncle of Kride, is sure to win an award for his supporting role. Doddanna, Veena Sunder, Harini, and Dharmanna provide solid support in this must-watch family entertainer.

Kaushik Harsha delivers a bumper — his three songs are extremely good. Go Win the Swamy is very well thought out, and Rajesh Krishnan’s song Yaakeethara is brilliantly rendered, with high-quality lyrics.

Lavith, behind the camera, has delivered good-quality framing, and the locations are apt for the film.
