Here is a family entertainer with many values woven into Shreemati Sindoora. Director Ananth Raju, known for his good track record, has made a sincere effort to bring family audiences back to the theatres. For this, the story by producer D N Nagi Reddy and the screenplay team also deserve credit.
Like the family films of yesteryear, this film gives you the same feel and leaves you in a good mood, as evil is punished and good triumphs. Director Ananth Raju introduces the ancient belief of Lord Anjaneya carrying the Sanjeevini Hill to save Lakshmana as the backdrop of the film before quickly moving into a family setting. The different layers he has woven into the screenplay make for a pleasant viewing experience. You need not scratch your head to follow the story. It is a big relief for the audience, thanks to the director’s well-crafted screenplay.
Of course, the 151-minute runtime could have been reduced to around 130 minutes. It would have made the film crisper and faster. The Lord Anjaneya factor that comes into play in the second half, along with the punishment meted out to the wrongdoers, brings a sigh of relief to the majority of viewers.
Coming to the film’s production, D N Nagi Reddy has carefully selected his team to deliver a balanced family film with strong values. A realtor-turned-producer, Nagi Reddy also appears in a cameo, and he looks grand in his attire.
What is Shreemati Sindoora all about? It has nothing to do with ‘Sindoor Operation’ of the Indian Army after the Pahalgam incident. Here, the real sindoora, which is considered sacred for a married woman, is given prominence.
Bailing her out from difficulties, Bharat (Vijaya Raghavendra) brings Indu (Priya Hegde) home and surprises his mother by introducing her as his wife. Bharat hails from a royal family and is a business tycoon. His wish is to stay with his mother and never hurt her.
Due to certain situations, with the villain barging into their lives, there is a rift in the family of Bharat and Indu, who hails from a poor family. A great devotee of Lord Anjaneya, Indu walks out of the house.
There are many more developments after this incident. The eagle-eyed villains tighten their grip, Bharat returns from a business trip to Germany only to face more shocks, and the rest unfolds on the silver screen.
It is a perfect role for the handsome Vijaya Raghavendra. He has emoted very well, and his action and dance sequences are terrific. Now a senior actor, Vijaya Raghavendra is the major attraction of this film.
Next comes Priya Hegde, the tall and beautiful heroine. She has very good scope in the coming years. She knows how to smile and laugh naturally, holding the audience’s attention with ease.
Manasi Sudhir, a talented actress, has delivered a precise performance. Ganesh Rao Kesarkar, as Kuberappa, remains true to his character. Prasanna Bagina, as the villain, has the right intensity. The child actor who appears in the second half as the son of Bharat and Indu has also given a neat performance.
The ustaad of cinematography, PKH Doss, has captured beautiful visuals throughout the film. The film gets a major lift from Doss, who truly works like the boss of cinematography.
Rajesh Ramanath, an iconic composer, returns with beautiful tunes. Kogine Ninna Gaayana, Hombisilu Kiranagala Chelli, Allondu Illondu Modalu, Naguva Mogave Nanna Edge Iride, JoJo Laali, and Neene Neene Nanna Ella are well written and beautifully composed by Rajesh Ramanath. In fact, Shreemati Sindoora is a musical feast as well.
This is the right film for family audiences. Those who spend hours in front of the small screen watching hundreds of episodes of family serials can experience all those emotions in just one film, and that is Shreemati Sindoora. Go watch it.
