Talent is not anyone’s exclusive property; Goddess Saraswati can bless anyone. Joining that league is Preethi Ashok—by profession, a senior dental surgeon, and by passion, a poet and singer. Recently, a grand launch event was held at Sri Renukamba Studio for Hridayageethe, a video album consisting of four songs from her collection. The music for the album has been composed by R.S. Ganesh Narayanan, who has also lent his voice to a couple of tracks. The event was graced by renowned director Saiprakash, lyricist, director, and music composer V. Manohar, editor Crazy Minds, and actor Sharath of Ka and Shabash fame.
Speaking at the event, Preethi Ashok shared, “I have been passionate about literature and poetry since childhood. So far, I have written 300 songs, with 70 already released. Some of my songs, in collaboration with star singers like Rajesh Krishnan and Vijay Prakash, can be viewed on my YouTube channel, Preethi Ashok-Music. I wrote and sang a song on Paristithi (situations). After completing a course in music, I returned to my profession as a doctor. Now, after 20 years, I am stepping back into the world of literature and music. Earlier, I used to write and sing for my own pleasure, but now I write specifically to suit tunes. My husband, Ashok Bhat, has been very supportive and has also produced this album. I hope to continue this passion in my spare time.”

R.S. Ganesh Narayanan recalled, “Preethi Ashok and I studied in the same school. She always won prizes in competitions, but back then, I only knew her as a singer and not as a poet. After 30 years, we reunited to work on this album. She has used meaningful words in her lyrics. Initially, we thought just an audio version would be enough, but later, a video concept took shape. The album features three love songs and one devotional song, Maadeva, dedicated to Lord Shiva, which was released on Shivaratri and received much appreciation. The songs feature performances by Samarth, Tanvi, Sharath, and Ajith, while Preethi Ashok herself appears in the Maadeva song. The visuals have been captured by Sri Crazy Minds.”
Veteran director Saiprakash commented, “In our time, every artist had a star image. But with the digital era, many have lost opportunities. However, music is like an ocean—it remains eternal and alive. Doctors even advise listening to good music before sleeping because of its powerful impact. Ganesh Narayanan and Preethi Ashok have created a beautiful album, and I wish them great success in their future endeavors.”
V. Manohar also praised the album, saying, “The hard work of the entire team is visible on screen. I hope everyone watches and appreciates it. I also look forward to many more songs from the collaboration of Preethi Ashok and Ganesh Narayanan.”
