The renowned and major literary work in Kannada, Mankuthimmana Kagga, by the distinguished writer Dr. D.V. Gundappa (DVG), first published in 1943, has been adapted for the big screen. This masterpiece, often referred to as the “Bhagavad Gita of Kannada,” is a collection of 945 four-line poems. Some of these poems are written in Old Kannada and are both profound and poetic.
Raja Ravi Shankar (V. Ravi), known for directing popular Kannada films, is bringing DVG’s Mankuthimmana Kagga to the screen. Produced by N.A. Sivakumar and co-produced by Meena Sivakumar, the song “Swamidevane” was released on the A2 Music channel during the Varamahalakshmi festival. This song, written many years ago by Sosale Ayya Shastri, is featured in the movie Mankuthimmana Kagga, with music directed by A.T. Ravish. The film is ready for release and has received praise from the regional censor board. The shooting took place around Madhugiri.
The film portrays the childhood days of DVG. Veteran actor Ramakrishna plays the role of Thimmanna Meshtru, Ranveer takes on the role of young Somi (DVG), Bhavyashree Rai plays Alamelu, Ravinarayan plays Venkaramaniah, and Lakshmi Nadagouda portrays the grandmother. The star cast also includes Saiprakash, Narasegowda, Srinivas Kemtoor, and others.
The story development, screenplay, and dialogue are by director Raja Ravi Shankar. Cinematography is by C. Narayan, with editing by R.D. Ravi (Dorairaj).
