The theme of ‘Love’ has been explored countless times on the silver screen, but every now and then, filmmakers endeavor to deliver something exceptional. In the Kannada film ‘Love,’ director Mahesh Ammalidoddi has truly excelled in the second half, demonstrating his knack for keeping the audience thoroughly engaged.

However, the first half of the film presents a cause for concern. Much like many others, this director devotes a substantial amount of time to narrate a relatively simple story. It’s in the second half where his enthusiasm truly shines through, with a series of developments that keep viewers eagerly anticipating what comes next. The second half unquestionably stands out as the film’s major highlight.

‘Love’ revolves around the love story between Swasthik (Prajay Jayaram), a Hindu boy, and Zoya (Vrusha Patil), a Muslim girl. They are well aware of the opposition they face from both their families, yet they remain resolute in their determination to confront it.

The second half of the film unfolds with a series of captivating events. Even the Muslim family’s parents find solace in the knowledge that Zoya is leading a contented life with Swasthik. But this newfound tranquility is shattered when Zoya is suddenly kidnapped, reigniting their fury.

The narrative then revolves around the search for Zoya and the quest to unmask the true culprit behind her abduction. Suspicion runs high, and a fresh dimension of the love story emerges on the silver screen, ultimately leading to the revelation of Zoya’s whereabouts. To discover the rest of the story, you must experience it in the cinema halls.

Vrusha Patil shines with her effervescent performance, although she could benefit from honing her acting skills. Prajay Jayaram, making his debut, has dedicated considerable effort to his role and delivers a commendable performance.

The background songs feature delightful lyrics that enhance the film’s emotional depth. Songs like “Avalillada Galige Naraka Nanage,” “Lokadalli Baduku Olavonde Dhairyavu,” and “Hosa Kanasu” contribute significantly to the film’s overall appeal.

Cinematographer Siddarth skillfully captures the coastal areas, city hustle and bustle, and interior settings, creating a visual treat. The music, composed by the duo of Rosith Vijay and Sri Sai Kiran, is well complemented by the lyrics.

Director Mahesh brought the real-life love story to the silver screen, filming in locations such as Kota, Udupi, Kundapura, Baindur, Bagalkote, and Bengaluru, adding to the film’s authenticity and charm.

The true essence of ‘Love’ tucked in its second half.
