Four songs from the upcoming Kannada film ‘Common Man’ were launched by actor Vinod Prabhakar, actress and MLC Umashree, actress Priyanka Upendra and veteran actor Ramesh Bhat at an event held at a five-star hotel.
Releasing on September 25, Common Man explores what happens when an ordinary man becomes the Chief Minister of a state and the challenges he faces while attempting to bring about change.
Social worker N. Narasimhamurthy has written and produced the film under the banner of Surabhi Films. Veteran director Om Sai Prakash, who has penned the screenplay, has also directed the film. This is his 106th directorial venture.
Speaking at the event, the producer said that every common man has aspirations and the film shows what an ordinary person can do after becoming the Chief Minister.
MLC Umashree, who launched one of the songs, said the English title Common Man reflects the growing international reach of Kannada cinema. She recalled her association with Om Sai Prakash, whom she considers like a guru, and thanked him for giving her opportunities at a crucial stage in her career.
Veteran actor Ramesh Bhat, who launched the patriotic song, said the film addresses the corruption prevalent in the country and presents ways to combat it. Vinod Prabhakar said he was happy to see on the stage several people who had worked with his late father. Priyanka Upendra praised all four songs.
The songs feature voices including Chaitra Achaar, Kailash Kher and Baba Sehgal.
Gowrishankar plays the lead, with Sona Ladwa as the female lead. Veteran actor Ashok plays the Governor. The technical team includes music composer Vinay Chandra, cinematographers J.G. Krishna and Deepak Kumar, and stunt director Thriller Manju. Ganesh Rao Kesarakar, Escort Srinivas, Prakash Thumminad and others are also part of the cast.
