At the KFCC organized ‘Chandanavana Andu, Indu and Mundu’ – addressing the mammoth gathering at Kalavidhara Bhavana the apex body President urged for Rs.25 lakhs as subsidy instead of current Rs.10 lakhs subsidy. It was 15 years ago Rs.10 lakhs was announced by the government and today everything has gone up. She urged the Media advisor KV Prabhakar to Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and that obviously grabbed good appreciation. Later past presidents of KFCC joined on stage to present the 7 point memorandum to the government of Karnataka.

Every year, 250 films are being released in the Kannada film industry. Satellite and digital rights are not getting sold. Producers are in fear. As announced in the budget, a dedicated OTT platform should be implemented. Without a film archive, valuable Kannada films have been destroyed. The Chief Minister has said that three crore rupees will be given for the preservation of important Kannada films. By archiving films, work should be done to preserve old movies.

There have been many developments in the film industry over the last 15 years. In this regard, a comprehensive film policy is needed. Along with implementing the policy, it should be revised once every five years. Amendments should be brought to the existing Cinematography Act. The number of theatres has declined to 400. Theatres are needed according to the population. This is also beneficial to the government. Opportunities should be created to build theatres suited to changing viewing patterns.

Assistance is needed for the renovation of single-screen theatres. Since 2022, the Karnataka State Film Awards committee has not been formed. The awards for the two years before that have also not been presented. Along with presenting the awards as soon as possible, awards should be given at the appropriate time every year. At the proposed Film City in Mysuru, at least 60 acres of land should be allocated for housing purpose of the Kannada film industry members urged Dr Jayamala.

The Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce organized ‘Chandanavana – Yesterday, today and tomorrow was first of its kind – no doubt about it. But the lack of brevity in the first half of the event consumed a lot of patience and time.

On Sunday, 24th May 2026 the program kick off one hour late from the prescribed time of 9.30 am and later the demand list of Dr Jayamala – President of KFCC and one of the chief guests KV Prabhakar observations consumed more time and what hoped as a very interesting seminar from speakers like P Seshadri, HR Bhargava, Rockline Venkatesh, KV Chandrasekhar and Mr Sagar AH who spoke on AI impact went ahead with lack of attendance as the lunch time shook the mood of the people attended.

However the event was very well organized by the team of KFCC and Dr Jayamala President of apex body thanked everyone for the seminar “Chandanavana – Then, Now, and Future” a grand success.
