Theatre continues to hold a special place in the heart of veteran Kannada actor Srinivasa Murthy, who recently turned 75 and is celebrating five decades of dedicated service to cinema, television and theatre. Fondly remembered as Bhojaraja following his memorable role in ‘Kavirathna Kalidasa’, alongside Dr. Rajkumar, Srinivasa Murthy remains a humble and unassuming personality who has made significant contributions to Kannada entertainment.

Adding to the celebrations, both Srinivasa Murthy and senior actor Ramesh Bhat are marking 50 years of their illustrious careers in the arts. To commemorate this milestone, the J.K.S. Mitra Mandali will stage the mythological play Shiva Mechchida Kannappa at Ravindra Kalakshetra, Bengaluru, on Sunday, November 8, at 5.30 p.m.
In the play, Srinivasa Murthy will portray Bedara Kannappa, while Ramesh Bhat will appear as Maya Shiva. A special highlight of the production will be the participation of Srinivasa Murthy’s grandchildren, Harshith Naveen and Harush Naveen, who will share the stage with their grandfather. The two youngsters are the sons of actor Naveen Krishna, making their participation a memorable family moment.
Directed by Ranganath, the play will feature music composed by Ashwath. With its blend of mythology, devotion and the enduring appeal of Kannada theatre, Shiva Mechchida Kannappa promises to be a memorable experience for theatre lovers.
As part of the celebrations marking Srinivasa Murthy’s five decades of contribution to the arts, the production is expected to be a special occasion for audiences and artistes alike. Veteran actors Srinivasa Murthy and Ramesh Bhat have appealed to members of the media to extend wider publicity to the November 8 performance and encourage the artistes.
