The muhurat ceremony of veteran actress Shruti’s 175th film, titled Mother, was held at the Bande Mahakali Temple recently.
The event saw actor Vinod Prabhakar attending and extending wishes to the team. Director Nagathihalli Chandrashekar marked the occasion by performing the clap for the first shot.
The film is directed by Rakesh Somanna, who described Mother as a powerful story. He said the film revolves around an illiterate woman from Mandya who fights to protect her family. He added that Shruti will be seen in a different avatar in this film, portraying a rugged look instead of her usual roles. The shoot is planned for 35 days and will take place around Mandya and surrounding regions.
Speaking at the event, Vinod Prabhakar said he considers Shruti like a mother figure and recalled their earlier collaborations. He mentioned that during the making of Madeva, Rakesh had worked with intensity, and noted the strong on-screen combination between him and Shruti. He also expressed pride that Shruti’s 175th film is a significant milestone and said such a number of films is not easy to achieve.
Veteran actress Shruti said that this project is special compared to her earlier films. She thanked Dr. Rajkumar for introducing her to the film industry and acknowledged the role of Dwarkish’s Shruthi film in sustaining her career. She said the story of Mother interested her when it was narrated, and she appreciated the director’s intention to bring freshness to the subject.
She added that she requested workshops for this film, something she had not done for earlier projects, and emphasized the importance of support from producers and the team throughout her career.
Actor Chiranjeevi, who plays a key role in the film, said he appears as Shruti’s son in the movie and described his character as rough and rugged. He added that the team has presented the characters neatly and mentioned that the film will be introduced with a strong glimpse.
Producer K. Satish Chandra said that this is the first production under his Mysuru-based production venture and that Mother is the second film being launched under the Shanthwu banner. He sought continued support for the project.
The film is produced by Aarti and Satish Chandra under the Shanthwu banner. Shruti plays the lead role, while the cast includes Chiranjeevi, Prasanna Shetty, Archana Hegde, Abhay Puneeth, Geethanjali, Himashree and others.
The technical team comprises music director Anjan, cinematographer U. Ashwin, editor Vasanth and lyricist Nagarjuna Sharma.
