The romantic song ‘Madhura Mugulu Nage…’ from actor Niranjan Sudhindra’s ‘Spark’ has been released. The stars who attended the song launch were all smiles, impressed by Niranjan’s charming appearance in the romantic number.
Coming from a prominent star family, Niranjan had several members of his family present, including his aunt Priyanka Upendra. The song was formally released by Niranjan’s grandmother and Upendra’s mother, Anasuyamma.
Speaking after the song was screened, Priyanka said, “When I got married and first came to Upendra’s house, Niranjan was the child who welcomed me. The song is very beautiful. When the earlier song ‘Shakalaka’ was released, Uppi and I had discussed making reels. But we feel this song will be easier for us to dance to. We will definitely make reels. I have also worked with Niranjan in a film. I tell my son to learn from him. Always remain an inspiration.”
Directed by D. Mahantesh Handral, Spark will release on September 25. Director Dayal Padmanabhan, who gave Mahantesh an opportunity early in his career, and actor Darling Krishna attended the event and wished the team well.
Dayal recalled, “When I was making ‘Yogaraj Bhat’, I struggled with shooting its digital portion. Mahantesh came to me as an assistant and helped me. He has shown Nandi Hills in the song in a way we have never seen before. He has now made a film that makes me proud. At a time when people felt there were no promising heroes from the second generation of Kannada cinema, Niranjan appears to be a dependable hero. I also liked Prem’s new look in the film. The promotion has been handled step by step and very precisely.” He also congratulated the producers for maintaining such quality despite Kannada cinema still being at a lower level commercially.
Darling Krishna praised Niranjan, saying he regularly shares his stunt training on social media and is thoroughly prepared in dance and action. “He can be called the Hrithik Roshan of Kannada cinema,” he said, while appreciating Niranjan and Rachana Inder’s chemistry in the song.
Niranjan said he plays a media representative in the film. “Seeing the confidence the team has placed in me, I have worked beyond my remuneration,” he said.
The newly released love song has been sung by music director Sachin Basrur, with lyrics by Pramod Maravante. Rachana Inder revealed that her first shot for the film was for this song. She also said she sported curly hair as instructed by the director and plays an MBBS student.
Lovely star Prem plays the antagonist. His wife Jyothi Prem, who represented him at the event, revealed that he had always wanted to do an action role and fulfilled that desire through this film. She added that Prem underwent extensive preparation and even smoked for the role despite never having smoked before.
Actor Dharmanna Kadur praised the director’s planning. Director Mahantesh said the film has come out with the same quality as the song and credited the producers for their support. He added that he learned from his mentor Dayal Padmanabhan not to waste money during filmmaking, while Darling Krishna inspired him in portraying emotions effectively on screen.
Producer-partner Avinash Vasishta said he had already watched the film and “not even for two minutes did my attention move away from the screen.” He called it a film that could appeal to audiences from children to senior citizens.
Producer Dr. Garima revealed that she consulted around 60 people before selecting Mahantesh as director and spoke to 15 actors before choosing Niranjan as the hero. Coming from the medical field, she said she has now learned the art of filmmaking.
‘Spark’ hits theatres on September 25.
