Director Naveen Mahadev has attempted to portray through the film Mrutyudevate how women in today’s society fall into fraudulent traps, how they struggle to break free, and the form they take to punish those responsible.
The film revolves around three young women who become victims of such a network. With a women-oriented storyline, Naveen Mahadev has written the story, screenplay, dialogues, and lyrics, besides directing the film and acting in it.
The release event of the song “Nammava Madeva” from the film was recently held. Himashree and Naveen Mahadev feature in the song, for which the director himself has penned the lyrics.
Speaking on the occasion, Naveen Mahadev said, “We had earlier announced the film’s release date, but it got delayed due to some minor issues. The first song received appreciation from all quarters. Many praised it for beautifully expressing the emotions and strength of women. Initially, we had not planned to include this song, but it happened because of Himashree’s insistence. The trailer has also come out very well. The success of a film depends greatly on how effectively the trailer and songs are presented. Through the trailer, I have tried to show what audiences expect from a good film. I spent nearly 30 days editing the trailer.”
Co-director Devu said, “There is a scene in the film involving the slaughtering of a chicken. The censor board asked us to obtain permission from the Animal Welfare Board, which caused the delay in the film’s release. The film is being released by Munindra of M.P. Films.”
Actress Sarika Rao, who sounds like veteran actress Shruthi while speaking, said, “This is a film we worked on with great passion. Everyone has performed their roles perfectly. This film is not just meant for entertainment; it also carries a message for change. It will inspire many people. Along with girls, parents too should come and watch this film. We have shown what happens when a woman’s patience reaches its limit. I play the role of Aarthi, a Swiggy delivery girl, and it is a character with many shades.”
Himashree said, “My song has been released today. I play the role of Soumya, an innocent village girl from Malnad. The film conveys that people who suddenly enter our lives should not be trusted immediately. Naveen has deep knowledge about cinema,” she appreciated.
Maheen, known for Annayya, said, “Even though this is a women-oriented film, men too should come and watch it. I play the role of a rich boy who flaunts his wealth. The film shows the consequences of taking the wrong path.” Actors Pawan Shetty and Surya also spoke about the film.
Mrutyudevate has been produced by Saraswathi, wife of Naveen Mahadev, under the banner of Varshitha Productions. Kumari Varshita, speaking at the media meet, spoke about the strong moral-based dialogues written for her character by her father.
Veteran actress Vinaya Prasad plays a prominent role in the film. The cinematography is by Anirudh, music is composed by Shivaprasad, choreography is by Raghu, stunt direction is handled by Ultimate Shivu and Chitta Jadhav, editing is by Manju Vikram, and art direction is by Ganesh.
