The film ‘Mrutyudevathe’, directed by Naveen Mahadev, is based on a women-centric storyline that highlights the injustice and atrocities faced by girls in society on a daily basis, and how three girls who fall into such traps manage to come out of them. Veteran actress Vinaya Prasad, Himashree, Sarika Rao, and Diana play the lead roles in the film.
Recently, the song “Devi” from the film was released by senior director Om Sai Prakash. Speaking at the event, Om Sai Prakash said that just hearing the title of the film gives the feel of a women-centric subject and hints at revenge. He appreciated the song and choreography, adding that he has made many devotional films based on goddesses like Nagadevata and Gramadevata. He said that earlier, audiences would instantly recognize his style in films, and praised the heroine’s performance in the Devi getup, wishing the team success.
Naveen Mahadev, who has written the story, screenplay, dialogues, and lyrics, apart from directing and acting in the film, said that it is a women-oriented story. He explained how, no matter how intelligent or clever girls are wrongdoers trap them in various ways. The film shows what happens when a patient woman’s tolerance breaks. It also has a slight horror touch and conveys that adopting certain traditions in life can be beneficial. When cruelty crosses limits, the goddess herself must intervene, and that is depicted in the song. He added that the film is currently in the censor stage and is planned for release on the 22nd of this month.
Co-director Devu said that the story includes a small horror element and about 20% graphics.
Actress Himashree shared that she plays a naive village girl named Soumya from the Malnad region, who is innocent and unaware, but fights back when another power enters her. She said acting alongside Vinaya Prasad was a great experience.
Mahin, known for “Annayya,” said he plays a wealthy young man who believes money is everything, and the director has shown the consequences of his wrong path.
Choreographer Raghu and singer Vaishnavi also spoke about the film. Mrutyudevate is produced by Saraswati, wife of Naveen Mahadev, under the Varshitha Productions banner.
The film features cinematography by Anirudh, music by Shivaprasad, choreography by Raghu, action direction by Ultimate Shivu and Chitta Jadhav, editing by Manju Vikram, and art direction by Ganesh. Surya, Pawan Shetty, and Varshitha appear in supporting roles.
