Talented Sandalwood actress Meghana Gaonkar is all set to shine on the silver screen once again with a different and challenging role. In the much-awaited ‘Lambodara 2.0’, directed by renowned filmmaker ‘Simple’ Suni and starring Anil Shetty in the lead role, Meghana Gaonkar will be seen in a unique ‘Sadhvi’ character. She has opened up about how surprisingly close this character is to her real life.
Sharing details about her role, actress Meghana said, “In the film, she is a spiritual guru. Therefore, the Sadhvi character always speaks about happiness, life and inner peace. I was able to completely connect with the words she speaks and her thoughts. Over the past few years, I too have found a certain kind of contentment and inner peace in my personal life. So, the dialogues in the film also came very naturally to me. Perhaps director Suni may have chosen me for this unique role after subtly observing my real personality.”
Not just acting, the film team has also carried out extensive preparation and research for every detail of this character. Speaking about the costume and look of the character, Meghana explained, “We had a lot of discussions. We looked at photographs of real Sadhvis from across the country and decided to give the character a new look suited to the present era. Instead of dressing her in traditional white attire, we chose outfits in light saffron shades. Through crimped hair and natural makeup, we designed the character to look attractive and fresh even to today’s younger generation.”
She has also shown clarity regarding her choice of films, saying, “My goal is not just to act as a glamorous heroine or as someone’s love interest on screen. Such roles usually end with a happy ending. But when I get such different and mature roles, it gives me a great opportunity as an actress to experiment. Playing the role of a Sadhvi and preaching about a happy and peaceful life felt like a natural progression for me. Personally too, I am now at the same peaceful stage of life.”
