The short film produced by Adarsh Iyengar was unveiled by Kannada Prabha Editor and writer of over 100 novels Jogi, journalist Bhavana Belagere, famous music director Veer Samarth, Sri Vidya Raj and other prominent personalities.
M. Vidyalakshmi Prahlad, who has written and continues to write stories and screenplays for several television serials including Kulavadhu, Nammane Yuvarani, Premaloka and Sevanthi Shanatham Paapam, and currently Pavitra Bandhana, has turned director with the short film ‘Ghama’. The short film carries the tagline “Parimalakke Paravasha”.
The story revolves around an innocent village girl and a fragrant soap. The 14-minute short film captures attention within its brief runtime. Adarsh Iyengar has produced the film under the Sri Krishna Productions banner.
Speaking about the film, director M. Vidyalakshmi Prahlad said, “This is my first step into direction. As soon as I narrated the story, producer Adarsh Iyengar liked it and came forward to produce it. Rakshit Theerthahalli is my guru in direction. Cinematographer Shanthi Sagar has beautifully captured the story created by the writers.
“We have not used dubbing; sync sound was recorded on location. Some incidents from my childhood inspired me to write this story. Adarsh Iyengar, Arpitha Mohithe, Vajra Bhargavi, Pragya Shetty and Fathima have acted in the short film. With the cooperation of the entire team, we have made a good short film.”
Director Vidyalakshmi also recalled that her daughter Gauri Manohari gave the film its title, ‘Ghama’.
Actor and producer Adarsh Iyengar said, “Vidyalakshmi narrated this story to me eight months ago. It deeply touched me. Bringing the flavour of the 1990s into a short film was a challenging task. This is a 14-minute short film, and our intention was to make something short but neat. We gave great importance to quality. The film was shot for four days in the Malnad region.”
Actress Pragya Shetty said that she liked the story and thanked everyone who gave her the opportunity.
Child artiste Vajra Bhargavi, artiste Fathima, Rakshit Theerthahalli, who supported the project, and several other members of the short-film team shared their experiences at the press conference.
