The shooting of the film Devi, starring Mandya’s young farmer Chetan Gowda as the lead, is progressing briskly in Bengaluru. Bigg Boss fame Bhavya Gowda is playing the female lead in the film. The film is titled ‘Devi’, with the tagline “Amma Andhre Tuppa, Amman Andhre Haalu Tuppa.” Chetan Gowda himself has written the story and screenplay, while Prakash Kumar is directing the film.

For the past two days, an action sequence from the film has been shot in front of Darshan’s 50-foot-tall cutout installed outside Akash Theatre in Laggere. Dileep is composing the action sequence. Along with lead actor Chetan Gowda and hundreds of junior artists, comedians Huli Karthik, Jagga, Cockroach Sudhi and Yash Shetty also participated in the shoot.

Speaking to the media who had arrived to watch the shooting, lead actor Chetan Gowda said, “This is the story of a boy who comes from a village to the city with the ambition of achieving something, but gets caught in circumstances and enters rowdyism. The film is shaping up very well. I am a fan of Darshan, and I am also playing a Darshan fan in the film. Shastri is being re-released, and when the hero comes to the theatre to watch the film, we are shooting the fight scene that takes place with the villains here. Sharat Babu is playing the main villain in the film. Recently, we also shot a fight scene at Shivamogga Jail. Shastri producer Anaji Nagaraj is also giving us a lot of support.”

Film director Prakash Kumar said, “This is an important action sequence in the film. We have already completed seven to eight days of shooting, and another 45 days are remaining. The hero is a Darshan fan. We have not made him hold a machete, but he has Darshan’s mannerisms. Most of the shooting will take place in and around Bengaluru. We will shoot for 10 days in Mandya and then return to Shivamogga for further shooting.”
Actor Yash Shetty said that he is playing the heroine’s brother in the film. “I am initially a bad person, but later I become a good person,” he said.

Huli Karthik said, “Films being made these days are itself becoming fewer. Actors and producers like Chetan Gowda should grow.”

Jagga Mummy, Cockroach Sudhi and Shreya, who is playing the heroine’s friend, also spoke about their respective roles.
The film ‘Devi’ incorporates several elements, including action and mother sentiment. Ajith Kumar is the cinematographer, Sridhar V. Sambhram is composing the music, and Manju Upparalli has penned the dialogues.
