A new film titled Common Man, produced by N. Narasimhmoorthy under Surabhi Films, is based on the concept of what happens when an ordinary individual becomes the Chief Minister of a state. Veteran director Om Sai Prakash has written the screenplay and directed the film.
Actor Gowrishankar, known for Kerebete, plays the lead role in the film. The title and first look of the film were officially launched recently. The film features music by Vinay Chandra, while cinematography is handled by J.G. Krishna and Deepak Kumar.
Speaking at the event, Om Sai Prakash said this marks his 106th film as a director. He explained that the story explores what a common man could achieve if he becomes the Chief Minister. The protagonist, a lawyer, unexpectedly rises to the position and the narrative follows what changes he attempts to bring and whether he succeeds in improving society. He added that the hero’s father is an artist who dreams of his son becoming a lawyer and contributing positively to society. According to him, life offers opportunities to everyone, and the film portrays how the protagonist utilises such a moment, even as circumstances arise where no one questions how he became the Chief Minister. He said he felt the film would take a strong opening upon hearing the story. He also noted that actress Sona Ladva has performed well according to the requirements of her role and mentioned the presence of another actress from Mumbai. He described the film as a content-driven project rather than a festival-oriented film and appreciated Shailesh for writing strong dialogues.
Producer N. Narasimhmoorthy said he has been associated with theatre since childhood and had earlier produced two films, which helped him learn valuable lessons. He said this is his third film and expressed that he is willing to make many more films with a director like Om Sai Prakash. He mentioned that the talkie portion, initially planned for 40 days, was completed in 32 days. He also revealed that he plays the role of a Chief Minister in the film and announced that the teaser, audio, and trailer will be launched in the coming days.
Lead actor Gowrishankar said this is his third film after Rajahamsa and Kerebete. He stated that the film was completed as per the director’s plan and that he had been waiting for a strong story after Kerebete. He said he was surprised when he received the call for the project, as the role he desired came to him. He added that the director patiently narrated the story to him in detail and carried the characters and scenes neatly from beginning to end. He described the director’s working style as disciplined and said it serves as a learning experience for everyone. He also noted the director’s belief that no film is bigger than its story and mentioned that he had once aspired to become an advocate himself.
Actress Sona Ladva said this is her third film with the same producer. Cinematographer J.G. Krishna stated that he and Thriller Manju are known as a successful combination and added that Manju has taken significant risks in composing the action sequences. He also said that his son Deepak contributed to the camera work alongside him.
Music director Vinay Chandra said he has composed four commercially appealing songs along with the background score. The film also features Ganesh Rao Kesarkar, Escort Srinivas, and Prakash Tuminadu in supporting roles.
