The motion poster of Common Man, a film that revolves around how an ordinary lawyer becomes the Chief Minister of a state, was unveiled at an event held on the occasion of producer N. Narasimhamurthy’s birthday.
The film is based on a story written by social worker N. Narasimhamurthy, who has also produced the project under the Surabhi Films banner. Veteran filmmaker Om Sai Prakash has written the screenplay and directed the film.
Kerebete fame Gouri Shankar plays the lead role in the movie. The film features music by Vinay Chandra, cinematography by J.G. Krishna and Deepak Kumar, and action choreography by Thriller Manju.
Speaking at the event, producer N. Narasimhamurthy said that he had been involved in social service activities while maintaining a connection with theatre and had participated in several street plays. He noted that Common Man is his third production venture. He revealed that the film was initially titled Nane CM before being renamed Common Man.
Narasimhamurthy said that several people had described Om Sai Prakash’s filmmaking style as old-fashioned when he decided to collaborate with him, but he viewed it as a challenge. He added that the experience, wisdom and work ethic of a filmmaker like Om Sai Prakash are difficult to match.
Discussing the story, he said that while becoming an MLA requires an election, the film explores how its protagonist becomes Chief Minister by putting pressure on the government without contesting an election. He also stated that Vinay Chandra has composed four songs for the film and that singers including Chaitra Achar, Kailash Kher and Baba Sehgal have lent their voices to the soundtrack.
Director Om Sai Prakash said that Common Man is the 106th film of his directing career. He explained that the film portrays what an ordinary person could do if he became the Chief Minister of a state. According to him, the protagonist is a lawyer who unexpectedly becomes Chief Minister, and the story examines the reforms he attempts to implement and whether they succeed.
The director revealed that veteran actor Ashok plays the role of the Governor. He further said that the film explores how the protagonist utilizes an opportunity that comes his way and described it as a family entertainer. He added that lead actor Gouri Shankar and actress Sona Ladva have performed their roles effectively. He also mentioned that another actress from Mumbai is part of the cast and acknowledged the contributions of cinematographer Krishna and dialogue writer Shailesh.
Actor Gouri Shankar said that Common Man is his third film. He stated that after Kerebete, he had been waiting for a strong story and that the role in Common Man matched what he was looking for. He said that the producer had provided opportunities to artists like him and had supported the film’s requirements. He also confirmed that the film is expected to be released in August.
The supporting cast includes Ganeshrao Kesarkar, Escort Srinivas and Prakash Tuminadu.
