The much-awaited film of Tiger Vinod Prabhakar is hitting the silver screen on June 6 all over Karnataka. “This is very special and close to my heart,” he says, with his three layers of shades in the film.

A fan following is sure for Maadeva because of the four top action directors working on the film, he says with firmness, and adds that he has very few dialogues in the film. He plays a hangman—how a Mruga-like person turns humane and finally ends up as a ‘Rakshas’ is the crux of this film, which dates back to the 1980–1986 era.

Vinod Prabhakar remembers his father Tiger Prabhakar’s film Jiddu. When that film was released, he was a child, but the film’s content helped him add valuable elements to Maadeva. The film has 37 minutes of computer graphics, as period cinema made it difficult to find authentic real-life locations.

How does this 1980s story connect with the 2025 generation? Vinod asks: “Do you like the old MG Road or today’s MG Road?” According to him, old is gold.

Why is he silent, with few dialogues? It’s because of childhood trauma. He grows roughly in the later stages, but when Parvati comes into his life, he turns human.

Vinod has also worked as a technician on this film. “I have a background in sound from my younger days, and I thank that profession I cultivated. When there are 500 tracks running, I can still find the mistake,” he says. “I got good encouragement from my father for this learning process, as I stood behind him on quite a few films.”

According to Vinod Prabhakar, if anyone deserves a chance in another language, it’s music director Pradyotthan, whose work is superb in Maadeva. For the silence, emotions, love, and action, the music director has added extra strength through his knowledge, says Vinod.

Finally, he adds, this film involved a lot of effort at the table-work stage, and every small nuance was handled with care. “The train, a butterfly, and Lord Shiva are also characters in this film,” he adds.
