The Kannada film industry welcomed a new audio label, Ka Music, on the occasion of Kannada Rajyotsava. A new venture under Ka Picture (Kannada Picture), Ka Music is spearheaded by film journalist and publicist Praveen Ekantha.
With the objective of supporting films by new teams and encouraging fresh talent, the audio label has acquired the audio rights of its debut film, 1st Love Guru.
The label was officially launched by noted lyricist Kaviraj, who inaugurated the event with the blessings and encouraging words of Naadabrahma Hamsalekha. Director and lyricist Chetan Kumar and lyricist Nagarjun Sharma were also present on the occasion.
One of the highlights of the event was the unveiling of the Ka Music logo and the introduction of the lead actors of 1st Love Guru. The introductions were made special with a magic performance by magician Ramesh, who is also the mentor of the film’s director, Guruprasad.
The title track of 1st Love Guru, titled ‘Shuru 1st Love Guru’, has been released as the first song under the Ka Music label. The song marks the debut musical composition of Manojavam Athreya, with lyrics penned by Pramod Maravante. Varun Ramachandra and Surabhi have lent their voices to the track.
Featuring a melodious romantic tune, the song showcases the film’s lead actors, Yudith Shetty and Radhya Raj, as teenage lovers. The romantic number is expected to strike a chord with young audiences.
Speaking at the launch, lyricist Kaviraj, who has penned over 2,500 songs, expressed concern over the lack of transparency in the audio business, particularly when it comes to keeping film producers informed about the business and revenue generated from audio rights. He expressed hope that Ka Music would work towards bringing greater transparency to the industry. “As a matter of fact, Praveen Ekantha is in my heart, while some others are just in my memory. I hope he shows a new path to the audio business industry,” Kaviraj said.
Addressing the gathering, Praveen Ekantha said that Kannada has always been his top priority. “For me, Kannada is of utmost importance. It is my breath and livelihood. I am here today because of the Kannada language,” he said. He also spoke about his journey into the film industry and his subsequent transition into journalism. Films such as Sipayi, Belli Kalungara and Aptha Mithra inspired him to venture into the new business. Praveen expressed hope that Ka Music would soon deliver quality work and also shared his vision of expanding the venture into Ka Movies in the future. He described the launch on the auspicious occasion of Kannada Rajyotsava as an important milestone.
With 1st Love Guru, director Guruprasad is making his debut in the film industry. Coming from a theatre background, he has generated promising expectations with his maiden venture. The film’s poster and title track offer a glimpse of what audiences can expect.
The film features a mix of senior and young actors. Shobharaj, Chandrakala Mohan, Bhagyashree, magician Ramesh, Sridhar, Drama Junior Mahendra, Praveen Jain, Gajendra and Yuva Shetty play prominent roles.
The cinematography is handled by Satish G, while veteran editor Suresh Urs is in charge of editing. Produced by K.M.G. Productions, 1st Love Guru is scheduled for a grand release across Karnataka on November 27.
