Talented Sandalwood director Simple Suni known for novelty and specialty from film to film has now ventured into the world of science fiction. The trailer of his much-anticipated film ‘Lambodara 2.0’ has been grandly released in Kannada and Hindi. The film’s biggest highlight is that, instead of relying entirely on regular CGI technology, it has featured a real physical humanoid robot in a prominent role, marking a first in Indian cinema. The trailer, which has generated tremendous curiosity among movie lovers, is already creating a buzz on social media. The film is all set to hit the silver screens on November 13.
To bring this scientific story to life, the filmmakers have used ‘Zia’, an advanced humanoid robot developed by Bengaluru-based technology company ‘Machani Robotics’. Without depending on any digital effects or prosthetic makeup, Zia has performed her role directly on the film sets in real time. This is being hailed as a significant milestone in the history of Indian cinema. The experiment demonstrates how artificial intelligence and robotics technology can transform the field of acting.
Set against the backdrop of Bengaluru, Lambodara 2.0 is a high-concept scientific social thriller that explores the complex realities of today’s online lifestyle. The story revolves around the psychological conflicts of people in the modern digital world, who are constantly immersed in screen time, experience loneliness despite being connected to everyone, and find themselves trapped under invisible digital surveillance. Anil Shetty is making his debut as a lead actor with this film and has also written the script himself. Director Suni, who has so far directed films based on his own stories, has made an interesting departure by directing someone else’s script for the first time. Sachi Bindra plays the female lead opposite Anil Shetty.
Adding further significance to the film, Bollywood actor Kunal Kapoor, known for ‘Rang De Basanti’ and ‘Don 2’, is making his debut in Kannada cinema with this project. His character is said to bring a major twist to the story. Meghana Gaonkar plays an important role in the film.
