Varahi Films’ horror comedy, is set for a December 4 release in Kannada and Malayalam.

The song launch of Marriage Party, a horror comedy produced under the Varahi Films banner, was celebrated in true wedding style at AMB Kapali, Screen 7, on the fifth floor. The event itself looked like a grand marriage celebration, with almost all the male members of the team dressed in traditional panche, shirts and shalya draped over their shoulders.

The occasion marked the launch of the song Galate, sung by Pranavam and composed by Rithwik Muralidhar. The lively number promises to be one of the highlights of the film. Following the launch, the team members joined the celebrations and danced to the song, creating colourful visuals for the media.

Directed by Chayan Shetty, Marriage Party is his second directorial venture after Adhipatra. The film will be released in Kannada and Malayalam on December 4. Although the title suggests a wedding-centric story, the director clarified that the film is not just about a marriage. It is a horror comedy with another interesting subject woven into the narrative.

Producer Santosh V said the film was shot for 65 days in and around Kundapura. He also revealed that around 2,000 auto-rickshaws have carried the film’s posters as part of its publicity campaign. Coming from the construction industry, Santosh said he decided to enter film production after watching the success of Su from So. He expressed happiness over getting a good team whose members cooperated throughout the shoot.

“The director works neatly and knows exactly what he wants. He is a good friend now. We have even worked on schedules from 6 am to 6 am. Music gives life to a story, and I am happy with the work done for this film,” he said, adding that the film offers a good dose of horror and comedy.

Music director Rithwik Muralidhar is hopeful that Marriage Party could turn out to be a surprise hit. He described it as a happy entertainer for the entire family and said singers from across South India have contributed to the album. Pramod has penned two songs, including a hook-step number. The mastering work was completed in the UK. Appreciating Chayan Shetty, he said the director is highly creative, speaks less but offers valuable inputs.

Sound designer Naveen Kumar assured audiences of an entertaining experience, particularly for families.

Among the cast members, Prakash Tumminadu said that although he had acted in more than 115 films, Marriage Party was special to him. He enjoyed working with the team and described the film as different from similar entertainers.

Mime Ramdas revealed that he plays a person who organizes the marriage in the film, which is why he is not part of the Galate song. Namitha plays his wife.

Naveen D. Padeel brought laughter with his trademark humor. Joking about the team, he said they had spent 35 days looking after a group of ‘mad people’ by providing them food and shelter, adding that they were all good-hearted madcaps. He also quipped that his own wedding did not have such dancing. When asked why he was not seen frequently in Kannada films, he said he was often offered drunkard roles, which he did not enjoy repeating. He is currently looking forward to A for Anand with Shivrajkumar and another film with Jaggesh. A well-known Tulu actor and popular comedian in Dakshina Kannada, Padeel has acted in more than 25 films.

Ananya and Rakshita thanked the team for the opportunity but refrained from revealing much about their characters. Pushparaj humorously compared his dancing experience to writing an examination, while Praveen said he plays a painter and described the film as a complete product. Jyotish Shetty appreciated the facilities and the team’s efforts, saying the shooting experience felt like a picnic.

Sunder Bhat recalled the 25 days of night shooting and promised plenty of humour in this family entertainer. He also revealed that the film has one fight sequence. Hema said she was happy to be part of the film as her daughter had acted in it, while Kavya plays a character named Kamali.

Choreographer Muruga, who was not dressed in the wedding-themed attire like the other members, expressed happiness over the song and his contribution to it.

Cinematography is by Srikanth, editing by Nitin Shetty, and distribution is being handled by Munindra.

Vineeth Kumar, known for his performances in Garuda Gamana Vrishabha Vahana, Middle Class and Gajanana and Gang, plays the lead role but was absent from the grand song launch.

The celebrations concluded with the cast and crew dancing to Galate in their traditional wedding attire. With its blend of horror, comedy, music and family entertainment, Marriage Party is gearing up to bring a different kind of celebration to theatres on December 4.
