The vitality of the film industry lies in one experimental attempt after another. Kannada film ‘A DATE’ is all set to come before the audience with one such unique narrative. Set over the course of a single day in the metropolitan city of Bengaluru and revolving around two principal characters, the film has been written and directed by Vimal Raj N.
Having completed its shooting and post-production work, the team, as the film approaches its release, has now released a new high-energy song titled the ‘Bad Guy Anthem’.
Written in the rap style that directly connects with today’s younger generation, the song has lyrics by Sujanith Shetty and Vimal Raj N. With music composed by Moksha Beats, the team believes that this song will pique the audience’s curiosity about ‘A DATE’.
Working in the IT sector, Vimal Raj N has created and directed several short films on YouTube and has built his own audience base. Having developed his own style of storytelling through short films, he is now making his debut as a full-fledged director with ‘A DATE’, bringing his storytelling to the big screen and directly before the audience.
The story revolves around a North Indian young woman and a South Indian young man who unexpectedly meet in Bengaluru. Set against fear, curiosity, hesitation, trust and emotional conflicts, the film explores how their one-day journey takes an unexpected turn. Through the romantic drama genre, the film portrays present-day urban life, changing relationships and the human connection between two individuals belonging to different languages and cultures.
Sujanith Shetty and Ashwini Shenoy play the lead roles in the film. The fact that the story has been built around just two principal characters is one of the film’s unique features. PVR INOX has taken up the responsibility of distributing the film.
The film was shot across more than 55 real locations in Bengaluru, with the city itself emerging as one of the important characters in the film. The movie has been produced by a like-minded team under the Weekend Shorts Studio banner.
The film has music by Moksha Beats, cinematography by Vadde Devendra Reddy, editing by Vimal Raj N, and lyrics by Sujanith Shetty and Vimal Raj N. The release date of ‘A DATE’ will be announced soon.
