The name of an epoch-making personality in Kannada cinema, yesteryear superstar Kalyan Kumar, has now become the title of a new Kannada film. In the past, several films have been titled after popular stars, and now ‘Mr. Kalyan Kumar’ joins that list.
Produced under the banner of Sri Renuka Yellamma Devi Combines, the film’s title was unveiled by five prominent music directors of Kannada cinema — Arjun Janya, Sridhar V. Sambhram, V. Manohar, Anoop Seelin and V. Nagendra Prasad.
M. Narasimha Babu and Jagadish M. are investing in the film. Prashanth Y. N., who has worked in the film industry for the past 12–13 years as an assistant, associate and co-director, as well as a dubbing artist and writer on several films, has taken on the responsibility of directing the movie.
Hari Prasad, who has already played important roles in one or two films, will be seen as the hero of the film, portraying the character of ‘Mr. Kalyan Kumar’.
The film features dialogues by Abhinandan Deshapriya, while Ujwal Chandra is handling the editing. The film team has expressed its gratitude to music directors Arjun Janya, Sridhar V. Sambhram, V. Manohar, Anoop Seelin and V. Nagendra Prasad for unveiling the title.
“We are planning to make a different attempt with the music of the film. That is why we decided to have the title unveiled by five music directors,” says director Prashanth Y. N.
The team has recently completed the script pooja and is now moving ahead with the next phase of work. The makers are planning to hold the muhurta in the last week of next month and begin shooting soon.
