Director P.C. Shekar, who has directed several acclaimed Kannada films, is directing “Mahaan”, produced by Prakash Booduru under the Akash Pictures banner, with the popular actor Vijay Raghavendra playing the lead role. Rangitaranga fame Radhika Narayan and renowned actor Mithra play important roles in the film. Recently, the team unveiled the first-look posters of Radhika Narayan and Mithra.
“In Mahaan, I play the role of a nurse. For the first time, I am appearing as a complete village girl. I grew up in an urban environment, so portraying a rural girl has been a wonderful experience. Mine is also a character that stands as the backbone of the hero. P.C. Shekar is one of my favourite directors. I was supposed to act in one of his films earlier, and now the opportunity has finally come. Producer Prakash Booduru is making this film on a grand scale without compromising on anything. Shivrajkumar’s special appearance has added even more weight to the film. It has been a delightful experience acting alongside Vijay Raghavendra, Varsha Bollamma, Mithra and the rest of the cast. Mahaan will be a film my fans will be proud of,” said actress Radhika Narayan.
Actor Mithra said: “After Raaga, I am once again working with director P.C. Shekar. My role in Raaga received appreciation from everywhere, and now in Mahaan too I have played another significant role. I portray the hero Vijay Raghavendra’s brother-in-law. My character is always by the hero’s side. While the hero has a calm nature, my character is slightly short-tempered. This is a film about farmers. Producer Prakash Booduru is producing this socially relevant film with great dedication. Shivrajkumar has also played a special role in the film. I am very happy to be part of such a wonderful story. I believe the audience will like my character as much as I do.”
According to director P.C. Shekar “They are appearing in roles they have never played before. Vijay Raghavendra plays a socially conscious farmer who goes through many ups and downs in life. I felt it would be ideal to have a woman who gives him courage and motivates him during his difficult times. Radhika Narayan plays that role. She appears both as a nurse and as a socially conscious woman, and she is paired opposite Vijay Raghavendra. Raaga, featuring Mithra and me, remains popular even today. In Mahaan, Mithra plays a character who always stands by Vijay Raghavendra, who fights for justice, and responds to every turn in the hero’s life. Though there is a considerable age difference between them, they share a strong bond like close friends. It is a very important role. Mithra’s character and performance will touch everyone’s hearts.”
