‘MAHAKAVI’ is Prof. Baraguru Ramachandrappa’s 25th Directorial Film. The song release ceremony of the Kannada film ‘Mahakavi’, produced by Prabhu Yatnatti of P.R. Associates, Belagavi, and directed by Prof. Baraguru Ramachandrappa, was held recently.
Renowned music director Arjun Janya unveiled the songs of the film. Shamitha Malnad has composed the music for the film ‘Mahakavi’. Kishore and Anusha Rai have played the lead roles. After the song release, the guests and dignitaries spoke about the film.
“I have not come here as the chief guest. I have come as an admirer of Baraguru Ramachandrappa. I feel very happy listening to Kannada from him. All the songs of this film, composed by Shamitha Malnad, are very good,” said Arjun Janya.
‘Mahakavi’ being Baraguru’s 25th directorial film is a special occasion. Welcoming everyone through his introductory speech, director Baraguru Ramachandrappa said, “‘Mahakavi’ is based on the poetry of Pampa, who is popularly known as the Adikavi of Kannada. This is not a biography of Pampa. It is a visual representation of Pampa’s concepts. In other words, the concepts that the great poet Pampa advocated through his poetry have been given a narrative form. It was not easy to direct this film without compromising the authenticity of the 10th century,” he said.
“I was a playback singer, and in 2015, he made me a music director through the film ‘Bekku’. After that, it is a matter of pride for me that I have composed music for all his directorial films. I thank Arjun Janya for releasing the songs of this film,” said music director Shamitha Malnad.
“‘Mahakavi’ is a film about Adikavi Pampa. I feel very proud to have acted in such a film. Moreover, those who mostly act in villain roles get fewer opportunities to perform songs. But in this film, I got a role that I have never played before. I also got songs,” said actor Kishore.
The film’s heroine Anusha Rai, along with actors Sundarraj, Prameela Joshai, Rajappa Dalavayi and others who have acted in the film, spoke about ‘Mahakavi’. Producer Prabhu Yatnatti was present at the event.
The film ‘Mahakavi’ has been selected for the Hollywood Film Festival. It will be released soon.
