Director B.M. Giriraj, who has earned recognition in the Kannada film industry through distinctive films like Jatta and Maitri, is now preparing to bring another unique story titled Kalyani to the silver screen. B.M. Giriraj has adapted author Basava Reddy’s story into a film and is bringing it to the screen under the title Kalyani. The film, which began quietly a few months ago, has now completed its entire shoot and is currently engaged in post-production work.

Meanwhile, the film’s team appeared before the media, released the title and motion poster of the film, and shared several details about its special features.

The new film, based on a story written by author Basava Reddy and directed by B.M. Giriraj, has been titled Kalyani. Kumaraswamy R., who has over three decades of experience as an executive producer and has worked on more than 45 films in the Kannada film industry, is producing the film under the R.K. Cinemas banner.

Young actor Samrat Shetty, who has already established himself as an active theatre artist, will be seen as the lead in Kalyani. Apart from him, North Indian actress Simran, Rahul Jetli, Shamanth Rao, P.D. Satish Chandra, Yamuna Srinidhi, Vijay Chendur, Shailendra, Rangu Samarpan, and several other theatre artistes are playing important roles in the film.

Speaking about Kalyani, director B.M. Giriraj said, “This film has been made with a tender love story as its backdrop. It deals with themes of trust, friendship, and identity. It is a film about the meeting of different cultures. By placing at the centre a girl from North India and a boy from South India, we have attempted to present two different cultures through this film. This is a completely different film from all the films I have made so far.” Apparently he is also one of the producers of the film. I have given up by ‘Akrosha and Sittu’ in this film he says.

B.J. Bharath is composing three songs Kalyani. The folk background will be very much seen in songs he says.

The film has cinematography by Prashanth Lagara and editing by Arjun Kittu. Most of the film has been shot in Bhatkal and around Bengaluru. If everything goes as planned, the team intends to bring Kalyani before the audience in September or October this year.
