The Kannada film “Shikhandi,” produced by Pola Praveen Kumar and directed by Gurumurthy V, is scheduled to release on May 15. Ahead of the release, the film’s song and trailer launch event was recently held.
MLA C. N. Balakrishna and Sai Satish Doddaiya attended the event as chief guests and extended their wishes to the team. Following the unveiling of the songs and trailer, members of the film team addressed the gathering.
The film is based on the character Shikhandi from the Mahabharata and has drawn attention for its title. According to the director, the film has shaped up well with the support of the cast and technical team. He also stated that the producer ensured there were no shortcomings in the production. The film features newcomer Yuvaraj Gowda as the lead, with Khyati as the female lead. The film has already received a response through its songs and trailer and will be released in Kannada first on May 15, followed by releases in other languages as a pan-India project. The director added that this is his second film after “Marakastra,” which featured Malashri.
Producer Pola Praveen Kumar, who is also a hotelier, said he turned producer through this project. He stated that the Yellamma song, which was released during the event, influenced his decision to take up the film. He mentioned that the director had been approaching him for two months, and after listening to the song, he agreed to produce the film. He added that the film has been completed with the support of his family and the team, and that he has also acted in the film.
Lead actor Yuvaraj Gowda, who hails from Mysore, said he had aspired to become a hero and that this film fulfilled his ambition. He plays a character named Surya. Actress Khyati described “Shikhandi” as her debut film. Actress Nikhita Swamy said she was pleased to have played a significant role.
Actors Neetu, Veda and Chandini spoke about their roles. Actor Raghavendra (Raghu) stated that he has played a transgender role for the first time in the film. Lyricist and music director Manju Kavi shared details about the Yellamma song.
Co-producer Pola Lakshmi, producer Pola Praveen Kumar’s son Karan, daughter-in-law, and daughter Namrata were also present at the event.
