The professional association of Ravichandran and Hamsalekha, considered a notable director–composer duo in Kannada cinema, will be commemorated through a special event titled ‘Crazy Brahma’ on May 30. Ravichandran and Hamsalekha collaborated on several successful films during the 1980s and 1990s. Their combination was known to attract audiences. Although the duo has not worked together since the 2000s due to various reasons, their songs continue to be widely heard.

To mark their four-decade journey, Prastut Innovative is organizing the event from 6 PM to 12 AM at JK Grand Arena in Kengeri. The programme, carrying the tagline “Where Music Meets Magic,” will feature performances and recreations of selected songs from the duo’s body of work. Artists from South India are expected to participate, along with actresses who have worked with Ravichandran. Singers from across the country will perform during the six-hour event.

A press conference regarding the event was held on Friday night at Kings Club. It was attended by Prastut Innovative Creations and Solutions director N. Vinay, Ravichandran, and Hamsalekha.

Speaking at the press meet, N. Vinay said that over the past 15 years, songs composed by the Ravichandran–Hamsalekha duo continue to be played at events such as parties and weddings, irrespective of the success of new films. He stated that recreating their songs in words or visuals is not possible. He added that the event aims to present what audiences experienced during that period and what the current generation has not witnessed. He said the programme is expected to draw around 10,000 attendees. Actors including Chiranjeevi and Shilpa Shetty have been invited, and participation from several personalities is expected.

Ravichandran said that differences in relationships can arise due to factors such as anger, ego, and success, and described such situations as part of life. He stated that these phases help in understanding the value of a professional partnership. He said that although they are not currently working together, they continue to remain friends. He added that early in his career, he relied on Hamsalekha’s writing to understand presentation, and credited him for contributing to his recognition as “Crazy Star.” He said they have not had direct conflicts, though a gap may have formed due to circumstances. He added that their association involved working together without personal differences and that their collaboration extended over several films.

Hamsalekha said that the event was one that had been expected for a long time. He noted that questions had been raised about why the duo was not making films together, and said that working together need not be limited to films, as they can also share a stage. He stated that the event will involve revisiting their work and presenting it to audiences. He added that the programme has been structured by Vinay and said that similar events could be conducted across the state if it is successful.
