The shooting and post-production work of ‘Sangeeta Bar and Restaurant’, featuring ‘Sensational Star’ Komal Kumar, Meghana Raj and Anusha Rai in prominent roles, are almost complete. The team has now gradually begun the promotional activities for the film.
As part of the film’s promotional campaign, the teaser has been released under the title ‘60 ML’. Veteran Kannada actor and Rajya Sabha Member Jaggesh unveiled the teaser and wished the entire team success.
Speaking on the occasion, actor Jaggesh said, “I have watched a few portions of this film, and the hard work put in by director Sandesh Shetty and his team is evident in every frame. I am confident that Sandesh Shetty will emerge as a promising filmmaker in the Kannada film industry. It is always good when a film’s subject gives rise to meaningful discussions.”
Jaggesh also advised the film industry to extend its support to new producers rather than tarnishing the industry’s image. He compared Sandesh Shetty’s qualities and filmmaking potential to those of superstar Upendra, recalling the qualities Upendra possessed during his early days in the industry. He conveyed his best wishes to the entire team.
The released teaser of ‘Sangeeta Bar and Restaurant’ appears to have already sparked discussions and controversy. Issues such as love jihad, religious conversion, attacks on temples and Hindu-Muslim religious matters have been highlighted in the teaser. Many are questioning how the subject presented in the teaser is connected to the film’s title.
In ‘Sangeeta Bar and Restaurant’, lead actor Komal plays a portrait artist in a royal court, while actress Meghana Raj appears as a queen. The film also features Anusha Rai, Pramod Shetty, Vajradheer Jain, Sandesh Shetty, Prakash Thuminadu, Raghu Ramanakoppa, Utsav, Karthik Rao, Sirija, Vardhan, Karan, Radhika Rao, Divyashree, Akshatha, Arasu, Mahesh, Nagaraj, Chitrakala, Umesh Kinnal, Manish Shetty, M.K. Matha, Prashanth Siddhi, Radhakrishna and Mahabaleshwar Bhat, among a large ensemble cast.
The film is directed by Sandesh Shetty Ajri, while Vikas S. Shetty is producing it under the banner of Jyothi Productions.
Made on a big budget, the film has a story that unfolds across two different periods. Interestingly, although the film is titled ‘Sangeeta Bar and Restaurant’, it actually has two titles within the same film, reveals director Sandesh Shetty Ajri. This is because of the film’s storyline. The first half begins in a bar and revolves around it, while the second half begins at a divine place and concludes there.
“Therefore, while the first half is titled ‘Sangeeta Bar and Restaurant’, the second half is called ‘Devara Taana’. Both these names are actually titles of our film. However, as per censor regulations, a film can have only one title. Hence, we are bringing the film to theatres under the name ‘Sangeeta Bar and Restaurant’,” explains director Sandesh Shetty Ajri.
The film was shot in two schedules over a period of 75 days. Most of the shooting took place in the coastal and Malnad regions, including Kundapura, Shivamogga and Thirthahalli.
A special highlight of the production is the construction of seven massive sets with different designs at Valthur village in Ampar, Kundapura, for the film’s shooting. In keeping with the requirements of the story, seven distinctive sets were erected across an expansive two-acre area. Nearly 90 per cent of the film was shot within these sets.
For the first time, lead actor Komal appears in two different roles in ‘Sangeeta Bar and Restaurant’, representing two contrasting periods — one historical and the other contemporary. In one role, he plays a portrait artist in a royal court, while in the other, he portrays a film director. Thus, Komal plays a dual role in the film.
Meghana Raj appears as a queen in ‘Devara Taana’, while she plays the female lead in the ‘Sangeeta’ bar portions. Director Sandesh Shetty Ajri has also donned the greasepaint for a role in the film. The 200 years old get up for Meghana Raj is another interesting factor of the film.
With four different songs, action sequences, comedy, emotions and a spiritual storyline, the team promises that ‘Sangeeta Bar and Restaurant’ will offer all the essential elements of a complete entertainer.
The film, which will also be released in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi and other languages, promises a unique blend of comedy, emotions and entertainment.
