Two songs from the upcoming film Tequila, directed by photojournalist-turned-filmmaker Praveen Nayak, were screened recently at Sri Renukamba Digital Theater, Malleshwaram. The event was attended by Sri Channa Thimmaiah and Shanker Reddy.

The songs include a title track and a melodious number, both composed by Renukumar. Director Praveen Nayak, who has previously directed Z, Hoo Anthiya Uhoo Anthiya, and Meese Chiguridaaga, shared that Tequila explores the strength of the human mind. The film addresses the idea that “there is no human without pain” (“Novu Illada Manushya Illa”) and discusses the concept of second chances in life, cautioning against waiting for late realizations. Drawing from psychological studies and case references, Nayak also touches on themes of obsession (“Chata”) and “Sukhada Hindina Sathya” (truth behind happiness) without including vulgarity. Cinematographer PKH Doss has handled the visual presentation of the film.

Director-turned-producer Nagachandra acknowledged that the film faced a few delays during its making but is now set for a May release under Jayanna Combines.

Music director Renukumar credited Praveen Nayak’s wife for her involvement in framing lyrics for the songs. Actor Dharma Keerthiraj, who plays a dual-shade role, said Tequila marks a new phase in his career after challenges faced during his previous project Jogi Gudda. He also mentioned his inspiration from his father Keerthiraj’s Chitralekha cinema banner and appreciated his co-actor Sunil.

Actress Nikita Swamy, the newcomer in the team, spoke about the challenges she faced during the shoot and how she was supported by the team.

Nagendra Urs, who transitioned from editing to acting, plays Dharma’s friend in the film. He noted that he followed the director’s instructions closely and praised Praveen Nayak’s guidance on set.
