A new buzz has emerged in Sandalwood surrounding director, actor, and activist Tiger Nag’s upcoming film titled Justice for Soumya. The title has sparked speculation about whether the film is a reimagined narrative of the controversial 2012 Dharmasthala case involving Soujanya, a young woman who was raped and murdered under mysterious circumstances.

The actual culprits in the case are yet to be conclusively identified, and the incident remains one of the most debated and unresolved crimes in recent Karnataka history. With the case still considered alive in public memory, Tiger Nag’s decision to title his film Justice for Soumya has raised eyebrows and led to speculation about its inspiration.

Tiger Nag has reportedly completed the majority of the film’s shoot without much public attention and is currently considering reshooting some scenes. Before that, he released the first lyrical video song from the film titled “Dhag Dhag Uriyuttide Jwaale” on his B Music YouTube channel. The song features lyrics calling for justice and action against sexual violence and aims to resonate with nationwide anti-rape movements.

Known for his activism and social commentary, Tiger Nag has not shied away from addressing controversial issues. In this film too, he portrays a fight for justice for a rape victim.

The film features cinematography by Vipin, dialogues by K. Manju Kotekere, and music and lyrics by Tiger Nag himself. He has also sung the protest-themed track released recently.

While the cast details remain confidential for now, Tiger Nag stated that full information will be revealed closer to the film’s release. Discussions—both for and against the film—have already begun in Gandhinagar, indicating the sensitive nature of the subject.
