The promotional activity for the 1990 Pan-India film began with the release of the song Thandava. The song is infused with action elements.
Thandava, written by director Nandakumar for the film 1990, produced under the banner of Manasu Mallige Combines, directed by Nandakumar C.M., and starring Arun and Rani Varad, was recently released on the Lahari Music YouTube channel. The song is sung by Maharaja and Vallabh, who also composed the music.
At the film’s first media meet, the team arrived in pure white outfits, and for the song release event, they wore black costumes.
“This is my debut film as a director, although I have been associated with the film industry for many years. The film is a love story set in 1990. While the story unfolds in that period, the hero’s imagination takes us back 35 years. Though there have been many love stories, our film’s story is unique. 90% of the film is set in the 1990s, while only the remaining 10% is in the present day. We’ve started promoting the film with the release of the Thandava song, which has already been shot and is ready for release. Initially launched in Kannada, the film was later recognized as a story that could resonate in all languages. Now, 1990 has been made into a Pan-India film in five languages. We will release the film soon,” said director Nandakumar C.M.
“I hope you all support this tender love story, 1990, which we, four friends, have produced through a company called Manasu Mallige Creations,” said Arun Kumar, one of the producers.
“This is my first film on the big screen, after gaining experience as a theatre artist. Director Nandakumar has crafted a beautiful story that will appeal to everyone. In the film, I play the role of an innocent lover,” said hero Arun. Arun is the son of the renowned editor Janardhan, who has edited several Kannada superhits.
“I was pregnant when the teaser for this film was released. Now, on January 6th, I gave birth to twin baby girls. In the film, I play a timid girl, and I really enjoyed the role,” said heroine Rani Varad. Her presence at the media briefing was met with applause for her dedication.
Music director Maharaja shared information about the songs of the film. Cinematographer Halesh, stunt director Ashok, choreographer Sadik Sardar, editor Krishna, and villain Devu also spoke about 1990.
