‘SURYA’ SET FOR SANKRANTI RELEASE

The film Surya, produced under the Nandi Cinemas banner by brothers Basavaraj Benne and Ravi Benne from Belagavi in North Karnataka, is scheduled for release on January 15 as a Sankranti release.

Directed by Sagar Das, the film revolves around Surya, a young man who grows up in a slum, and focuses on the struggles and risks he takes to achieve his love, along with the people who support him in the process. Prashanth plays the lead role, while Harshitha appears as the female lead. The trailer of the film has already been released and is circulating widely.

Recently, the song Baare Baare Atteya Magale, written by director Sagar Das and sung by Hemanth Kumar and Pruthvi Bhat, was officially released.

Speaking at the event, director Sagar Das stated that the film has been made for entertainment and also carries a message. He clarified that although the film was said to feature the North Karnataka dialect, the story is set in Bengaluru, with only Pramod Shetty’s character using that dialect. He added that the story, set 30 years ago, is linked to a present-day love story. He also mentioned that Ravi Shankar extended support after watching the content-driven film and confirmed that Surya will be released as a Sankranti offering.

Actor Ravi Shankar said that although it was his first time working with the producers, they have made a film with a clear approach. He noted that director Sagar had developed a strong storyline and said that after College Kumar, he has acted again with Shruti. He added that the climax contains emotional elements, the film is an emotional love story, the second half includes intense scenes, and the lead actor has strong dialogue memorisation skills.

Lead actor Prashanth said he portrays a character who grows up in a slum. He explained that the film shows how the character handles love after falling for a girl, how he fights to protect that love, and how he struggles to achieve his dreams. He added that the trailer is receiving a positive response.

Actress Harshitha said the released song is her favourite and stated that working with senior actors such as Ravi Shankar and Shruti was a valuable experience. She explained that the film focuses on the decision a college-going girl makes regarding her love.

The film was shot across North Karnataka, areas around Bengaluru, and Pune.

Sagar Das, who earlier worked as an assistant director with B. Suresh, has handled the story, screenplay, and direction for Surya. Music for the film’s five songs has been composed by Sri Shastri, with lyrics written by Bahaddur Chetan, Yogaraj Bhat, and the director.

The film features cinematography by Manuraj, dialogues by Manikanth K.V., and stunt choreography by Narasimha. The supporting cast includes Pramod Shetty, Shruti, Armugam Ravi Shankar, T.S. Nagabharana, Bala Rajawadi, Bhajarangi Prasanna, Kunkum Harihar, Deepika, and Kaddipudi Chandru.
