Renowned journalist Sunayana Suresh, known for her work with esteemed newspapers like Times of India, DNA, Deccan Chronicle, and Mid Day, has ventured into film direction. Sunayana, who has substantial experience in film production, was previously the executive producer for ‘Swathi Muttina Male Haniye’ and has also worked as a scriptwriter, media strategist, and casting director for several films. Now, she is taking on the roles of writer, producer, and director for her short film ‘Mouna Raga’.
Sunayana shares, “The wave of indie filmmaking in the early 2000s fueled my love for cinema and filmmaking. I was drawn to cinema by names like Nagesh Kukunoor. As a media representative and film critic, I have closely observed cinema and filmmaking for two decades.”
She adds, “Over the past couple of years, I have explored various aspects of film production, casting, script doctoring, and publicity. Accordingly, I have now become a filmmaker through ‘Mouna Raga’, a short film written and directed by me with love.”
The short film ‘Mouna Raga’ features cinematography by Preetha Jayaraman and stars Shruti Hariharan. Badal Nanjundaswamy is the art director, and All OK is composing the music. The film also stars Agniv in the lead role, alongside Samyukta Hornad, Sooraj Gowda, Rajshree Ponnappa, Anirudh Acharya, Harshil Kaushik, and All OK.
